fuuuuck no.

Once, walking into a severely crowded bar, one looks at me and says "I thought they had a 21-and-up age limit HEE HEE HEE." So I shot back with "yeah and I think there's a 200 pound weight cap too," at which point she turns to her ginormous boyfriend and says "that little dude just grabbed my ass!!" Fun ensued.

It happened. My roomates were behind me, including Busty I think. It was at Flannigan's.

Tis' true.

Just one of many interesting moments involving Cap'N's youthful looks and surprisingly smart-ass mouth. Never disappoints.

I want to try:

I haven't gotten too far into the non-mainstream good beer shit because most of the people I know think Red Stripe is as good as beer gets and I usually just drink what's available (i.e. PBR, High Life, etc.)

I'll never get the appeal of red stripe. Except maybe if you're in Jamaica and paying $2-4 less per bottle. Even then, though.

ruination will fuck up your taste buds for like 9 hours. I like the Stone beers, but they tend to go apeshit on the hops. I think the Pale Ale and the IPA are probably the best beers they make other than the anniversary ales.

fuck yes. black chocolate stout is amazing!

mad elf is back in season and i got a 6 pack of that for halloween. i drank three of those and a black chocolate and i was shitfaced. i also was hitting up that grape ape and sensei star so i'd say that had something to do with it as well.

ridiculous.

there's this newer brewery out of new york, supposedly run by stoners.. it's called southern tier, and i tried their unearthly ipa (11%) totally doesn't taste like it's that alcoholic. it was awesome.

bells also makes a good chocolate stout.

i love stone brewing co.

you should definitely try ruination, but also try their india pale ale, russian stout (2008 limited release, it's fucking good), and arrogant bastard (i prefer the double bastard because it gets you drunk quick)

i don't understand all of the labels on them that say you have to have a superior palette and you're not good enough to like it or some shit. their beers taste great and aren't that bitter or hard to drink.

yeah yeah i know but i think a lot of their labels say something pretentious about their beer.

but it's alright. i'm sure if i hopped from a pbr to a stone brew it would be really difficult. i mean, i did have to do that one day when i started drinking nicer beers but i can't remember when i did it or what i drank when i went through that transformation.

edit: even now, it sometimes takes me a few beers in to appreciate a certain beer. sometimes taste is just too crazy or consistency.

have y'all tried Palo Santo Marron by Dogfish? it's nuts. I spent 14 bucks on a four pack i'm pretty sure, but the beer is almost black and it's thick and strong as hell. the story behind it is really awesome. I love dogfish because they go out of their way to replicate old beer recipes. For instance, this one was brewed in 10,000 gallon barrels made out of "holy wood" from South America.

it's nuts.
i started to really like it on about beer 3.

ps i only capitalize when i feel like it evidently.

I went beer shopping the other day with a co-worker who decided on his purchases solely on achohol content. It was a really strange shopping experience. He'd pick up a bottle, and loudly report the alc% to the entire store (cries of "8.6!" and "Here's a 9%! I gotta try this one!" still haunt me) with no apparent understanding of the difference between an ipa or a stout.

Now I'm no beer snob - I think I walked out with a 12 pack of MGD... but this was just embarrassing. Gotta love the business trips, with only one company vehicle.

i look at the alcohol content as well. if i'm really excited about a beer, i'll try it whether or not it has high alcohol content. but usually i do look at the alcohol content. i'm buying the beer because i want it to taste great, and i want to get drunk.

i will drink anything dogfish has put out. anything. and id like to try most rogue, stone, and brooklyn beers. but if i had a choice between say the 60 minute or 90 minute dogfish, id get the 90. the arrogant bastard or the double, i'd get the double. the brown ale or the chocolate stout, i'd get the chocolate. you get it.

all the beers are good so go for the best drunk.

i think it was a wise move on his part.

<a budding alcoholic

edit: joking on the alcoholic thing. i think i'm going to cut back my drinking a lot.

also! i'd be embarrassed about the yelling. but i love barleywines and those crazy dogfish beers that are 20% and shit, so i guess i've gotten used to the disgustingly alcoholic-almost liquor tasting beers.

SPEAKING OF WHICH: have you all tried the bourbon barrel stout?

Speaking of fruity beers, I've been a big fan of this one when I go out to the local bar:

[img][375:500]http://koehlerbeer.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/photo19.jpg[/img]
Major Tom's Pomegranate Wheat. (Sorry about the large-ass picture. The google-image search pickin's were slim)

I don't like wheat beers, and I tend to not enjoy fruity beers. But this one has a nice bite to it. Doesn't get a good rating on some of the beer sites I traverse, but I find it pretty awesome.

Dude...buy it NOW! It's awesome. I buy a 22 every time I go to the liquor store these days. No reason to get a six-pack IMO.

And enjoyed on one of these this past weekend. A personal favorite:

Oh yeah, had one of these too. One of many I'm saving for Thanksgiving:

Christmas beer is the best beer.

Tonight I had a St. Bernardus Christmas ale and a Goudon Carolus Noel at the Brick Store. Both were excellent.

Then there's N'ICE Chouffe which my wife, brother-in-law, and his date had which is one of my favorite beers. And Chimay Grand Reserve was originally a Christmas beer.

Forget Octoberfest and all those other seasonal beers.

Christmas beers.

Ugh, I can't stand that Brown Shugga. Drain pour for me.

But, I have 5 of these being delivered from Oregon today! Tis the season for stouts... in fact, I'm hosting a stout tasting with 18 beers on display... some time.

[img][266:500]http://blog.oregonlive.com/thebeerhere/2007/10/large_The%20Abyss_BottlePint.jpg[/img]

Also, while Ruination is fucking awesome... this is even better.
