"Beatnik" to be more specific. It really caught me off guard. For those of you outside of Southern California, Coffee Bean nearly rivals Starbucks in number of locations and I assumed they just played some sort of corporate soundtrack.

I heard a live, solo Mark Kozelek recording playing at a local CVS Pharmacy a few months back. That was very strange.

My wife and I heard Wilco (I think it was Late Greats) in a chain grocery store the other week.

Chipotle has a great music selection.

I heard The Ramones ("Blitzkreig Bop") playing over the Muzak in Walgreen's a couple of years ago.

Not at the Downtown one :/

Their coffee is scalding hot. Like dangerously so.

downtown LA is scary. It could be like 1 pm on Tuesday and there is sage brush rolling in the streets.
where are all the people?

I always end up staying down there.

Ugh, I know. I work in a more populous part, but I get coffee at Groundwork on the weekends sometimes and it's this big, cavernous space with only the worker in there. Sad.
