I haven't been able to use the cheapass office BICs for quite some time now and was just wondering if anyone else is as nerdy about their writing utensils as I. I alternate between 5 or so pens, most of which get stolen weekly.

oh shit yeah. .8s and 1.0 are the way to go. And don't get me started on the liquid Sharpies. The holy grail of office pilfering. The retractable ones suck though.

i drool over the Levenger catalog, and i want to get into the SERIOUS writing instruments, but i'm just afraid that i'd lose them. i usually hit up the art store once a week and buy some wack pens just to try something new.

I too am a pen freak. I buy my own pens for work -- fuck using the cheap ass writing implements the company provides. It's about smooth, micro lines that flow across the paper. I must have a variety of colours as well.

I heart Sharpies as well and own one in almost every colour they make.

Pity da fool who tries to steal my pens cuz I'll find you. Oh yes, I will.

I'm an asshole about pens, but I like them Micro. Small as I can get 'em, .2 or .5. No medium no way. I buy my pens because that way if someone grabs it at work I just snatch it back and call them names in front of people for stealing the pens I bought with MY money.

And ONLY in black ink. These pens kick ass.

And if I want to bitch at someone, I write in red China marker, which always makes you look a little insane.

and shiv if you i only used pens to write checks with i probably wouldn't be such a fanatic about them

I'm a fan of the gel ink pens. A lot of people don't like them though.

Ok, please pity me, as I have only weak Mexican pens for sale at the "stationary store" in San Pedro, and LOVE the Uniball .5 that my wife brought back from from her last trip to the states, and it is starting to do the scratchy thing.....

When I'm writing notes or something like that I try to get two lines of writing in one line of foolscap so I need a 0.5 pen to write neatly at that size.

Otherwise I use a Parker fountain pen. It's especially good for signing cheques or forms or whatever.

The other thing about pens for me is that I demand complete uniformity. If I buy a set of pens I have to chuck out all my other pens because to have mixed brands or types of pens in my desk pen holder would be completely unacceptable to me.
