i'm assuming you mean me, because you really appear to enjoy poking fun at me these days. wait, these days? that's what you've enjoyed doing since the day i met you.

anyways. i think you'd like a lot of these bands if you gave them a shot. especially dead man, young widows, woe, mammoth grinder, etc.

and i also have a job i have to work, which is why i'll be attending all of these shows.
i'm just trying to keep track of everything this year. i hate the fact that i can't remember every show/band i've seen from the bonezone days to now.

edit: i just reread my list and can't see what's bad about it. i doubt you've heard a lot of these bands, anyways, just because you never come to shows.

I only don't go to shows when the bands suck. That's why I show up about once every two or three months.

because of this mentality you've also missed several bands on southern lord, an ex yob band, nachtmystium, graveyard, several bands on relapse, etc.

don't hate on shit you won't give a chance. there's a great fest happening on new years eve, with ramming speed, chronic youth, mammoth grinder, etc.

there's a ton of bands i think you would have really enjoyed had you given them a chance during their brief visits to richmond.


oh yeah, and you can't say the bands suck if you haven't heard them.

Sorry, I was drunk when I posted both of those. That said, a lot of that shit is totally mediocre at best. There's music other than metal, you know (thank God). The whole metal "culture" in Richmond is pretty lame - all the same people are at every show and most of the time the music isn't that great but they act like it's so awesome because it's a) metal and b) in Richmond.

To stay related to the thread, the only shows I'm definitely going to in 2009 so far are Drive By Truckers in January and Black Lips in March. Oh yeah, and Tim and Eric in February, if that counts.

i'm really excited about Tim and Eric. I'll definitely be attending that.

That being said... I know there's music other than metal, but right now there's just a shitload of metal shows happening in Richmond, which is great. I think most of the bands popping up/that have been around a while in Richmond are amazing, not just cause they're my buddies but because they're really talented.

I think it's great that the music is still flourishing in Richmond despite the lack of proper venues.

You rarely come out, so I don't think you have the real right to say the music is mediocre at best, and that the metal culture is pretty lame. Just my opinion. You're entitled to yours.. but I think what's going on is really great, it's a lot of fun, and i'm glad 50 people can be friends and get together on a regular basis at shows and outside of shows. It's great! Why so bitter??
