The CD's not out until around the 20th, right?

I'm debating whether or not to pick up the vinyl if I can find it. Given that this album is supposed to be super-bassy, I think vinyl is gonna be the way to go.

it's THICK. they definitely boosted the low end.

I can't find it. Whatever copies were brought to town, probably very few, were snatched up right away. Maybe next week... Apparently the initial pressing is sold out.

the live show is interesting, not a lot of live instrumentation anymore, but a HUGE light show.

Go to check it out. They'll be playing songs from an album they'll release in 2011.

haha... seriously, they could be candidates for playing stuff nobody ever heard before. that fits in my image I have of them.

Well, that's what they do, or at least what they used to do. The two times I saw them (touring for Sung Tongs and then for Feels), they played mostly new, unreleased stuff. Much less so the second time, though.

That said, I wasn't really crazy about their live show. I think it's gotten better, though, but "a HUGE light show" doesn't really sound that appealing to me.

how big re the venues they usually play in the US? here it's going to be somewhat around 600, maybe 800, which already sounds big for my idea of them on a stage.

That's hard to say because their audience seems to be growing pretty steadily. First time I saw them was in a really small rock club; second time was a mid-size theater, and that was over 3 years ago. It really depends on the city, though, I think. They probably play much larger places in NY and LA than they do here.

I would imagine they'd play Variety in Atlanta

In Nashville they played a 1,100 capacity club and sold around 600 - 700 tickets.

Yeah, I think they actually managed to sell out the Variety the last time I saw them.

I don't know if they'll ever manage to make the leap to Tabernacle-level here. ;)

They should do a big festival style carnival at Merriweather Post Pavilion.

they played variety the last two times they came here, they might graduate to the tabernacle...maybe center stage.

I thought they were great last time.

Also, geologist did an interview with some newspaper saying that this was going to be the first time they didn't have new material for a tour...

I think I've mentioned this before, but they walked off halfway through their set after the worst two opening bands I've ever seen because the singer had a sore throat or some bullshit.

The worst show I've ever seen.

i've listened to this album almost twice a day, every day since i dl'd it, and it has gone from strength to strength.

anyone else with me, or feel the opposite?

btw, they're touring the states later this year (i'll be catching the ft. laud & whorelando shows)

I like the album very much but I must say the show was mediocre. at the end there was always this missing last step in the songs. the sound was good, the "analog" percussion additions were nice but altogether the perfomance didn't kick in at the perfect moments.
I guess they should be more than 3 people, it would have been stronger with a broader mix of handplayed instruments and the electronic sounds.

Per the vinyl--I heard the 1st pressing is sold out. Glad I pre-ordered. It does sound super-great. Saw the cd last night at Borders, and thought that the small size just doesn't do the psychedelic cover any justice.

Yeah, the vinyl is totally sold out. Sucks because I saw the CD in a store over the weekend, and the cover doesn't even work at that size.

Still undecided whether or not I'm going to wait for the second vinyl pressing or just go ahead and get the CD. I think I may just cave in and listen to the download and then buy the vinyl whenever it gets re-pressed.

I got worried initially because insound sent me an email after I pre-ordered saying that my order would be delayed due to demand. Got it in the mail, but my contingency plan was to do just that: listen to downloads until I could get vinyl. I liked how they explained on the download card that came with the vinyl, what the name meant to them.
