This is surprisingly good. They've even added some soulful horns to a song or two. Nice sunday morning comedown music.

[quote="Passion for Indie Music"]Tight Knit is the fourth full-length album from Vetiver, singer/songwriter Andy Cabic’s ever-evolving musical home base. Luminous and surprising, Tight Knit unfolds like a road trip through the Appalachian Mountains of Cabic’s native Virginia. It represents a summation of the different styles and directions heard on past Vetiver releases, while it introduces some unexpected twists. Recorded in Sacramento at The Hangar and in LA at Melva, Tight Knit was produced by longtime Vetiver collaborator Thom Monahan. Vetiver’s songs have been described as “dreamy, gentle songs that George Harrison would have written in some sunny country garden.â€

this was good, kinda reminded me of Paul Simon's first solo album.

a couple of jack johnson-y moments, but not too bad.

what "hive?" there is no hive. I'll listen to this later, but the description sounds lovely.

I listened while bbq-ing tonight. It was perfect.

Not to incur some sort of wrath from Ob, but a few songs gave me a Grateful Dead sort of vibe, which is just fine with me. I swear one song sounded so Am Beauty-ish, but that might have been from their latest album. I had them both on.

Their self-titled debut album is awesome. Nothing has been even remotely listenable since then, including this. I suspect Andy Cabic wanted to get as far away from the Devendra Banhart/freak folk comparisons as he could. Such a shame.

You've lost your mind. Relisten. Good album.

I have a feeling that this is going to suck but I'll check it out based on the praise + the Grateful Dead comparison.

This is decent. Hits the sweet spot that Josh Rouse mined on Nashville. A good chillin album for sure.

Hmm, I thought this was worse than I had even imagined. The guy's got one of those "modern indie rock" voices that is the main reason I hate a lot of the music discussed on here.

I'm kinda digging this for good background noise.

Actually, I think this is kind of fair criticism. I've kind of gotten used to "modern indie rock" voice I guess.

My future is now I guess. I'm still digging this. There's some nice little background stuff going on I keep noticing.
