yes to Facebook for all the reasons Shmoo listed and then some.

MySpace is better for music, but otherwise, Facebook all the way.

Oh definitely, but I can listen to music on MySpace pages without being a member.

myspace does this now as well.

Oh really? It has a feed like Facebook or it sends you an email every once in a while?

it has a real feed.

check out the new myspace home page. it's leagues better than it used to be. combined with the music and vid parts, it gets my votes.

Looks like a homepage. Hasn't really won me over. And considering I joined Facebook to keep in touch with people who use Facebook, it won't.

Not sure if it was wise (and I feel a bit silly being 40) but I gave in and joined facebook after friends and family nagged me about it. Just joined up with the Obner page and it looks pretty dead despite 68ish members.
Anybody use the thing in real life? Any input on the privacy options? I'm limiting things to approved "friends" or at least trying....

Facebook is so much better than MySpace. I don't know why I haven't deleted my MS account by now. I don't use it at all.

I use my facebook way more than my myspace now. I don't even really use myspace, since I can communicate with the people I really want to communicate with through facebook now.

Facebook is one of the tabs I have opened all day at work. I get endless word game requests from my mother and aunt, but it's enjoyable.

Bort, I'll be your friend.

The only reason I log on to Myspace is for band updates.

I forgot there was an Obner group. I don't know who some of those people are. Which is shocking to me.

I check facebook a few times a day. It helps that I have some family members that use it constantly. Its a great way to stay in touch if the people in your network keep using it.

I didn't get many requests from the past until this New Year's. A friend from highschool, an ex-gf from Chicago and my first crush all contacted me all at once.

The crush was kind of funny. I hadn't talked to her since I moved away when I was 7 or 8. I did see her later in highschool, but as she was the cheerleader and I was the geek, she went out of her way to ignore me.

Now she looks like a Palin supporter after a plastic surgery disaster and posts status updates about "hubby" and cooking paprikash. It may be petty, but I feel vindicated.

I keep it small and play scramble and therefore it's fun but I don't want to be friends with a lot of people, ya know?

recently Ive been getting requests from grammar school acquaintances- which is odd but might be part of the whole "what does it all mean?" stage of life.

Anyhow, they ask me stuff like "Did you go to [insert school here]?". I just ignore the request- don't deny it or anything. Once a bit of time has passed since this last request, I'm going to be deleting my profile.

Loog's theory of High School Reunions applies so wonderfully to Facebook, especially when you first join (as I did a month ago or less).

It's worth it if only to see who caught Teh Ghey, Teh Fat, Teh Hott, etc.
