I'm having a hard time remembering details from last season. Does Faraday know about Desmond being in the hatch when it exploded and being able to see the future? Is that why he thinks Desmond is special?

Desmond is Faraday's "constant". He wanted to talk to Desmond so badly because he saw whatsherface bleeding from the nose much like Desmond was and that other guy on the boat last season after traveling through time, etc. He had to find Desmond to save himself from dying.

Not gonna have time to see this until tomorrow, and online, but I'm glad to see they're focusing on theoretical physics instead of complete fantasy.

You say that like they're two mutually exclusive properties.

I thought it was good couple of episodes. I will say that I'm definitely sick of Kate and her running at this point as a plot device. In fact, the less I saw of her character the better. Also, I found Sawyer's repeat demanding of an "explanation" to be a bit tedious too. Maybe I'm expecting too much from the writers.

I was under the impression that he had dropped his bag by the hatch when no one was looking so that, when they jumped through time, he did so separately from his things.

That's why he waited until nobody was looking to grab it and flip through his book. He wanted to see what he had written in it during the time they skipped over.

Nuh-uh. He lied to Sawyer about not being able to get Desmond's attention, then left his bag so that he could go back and knock some more.

Yeah, aren't the things that were with them supposed to also travel through time? Like the raft? Why would his pack be exempt from that?

1) i agree with andyfest/haq/et al on the pack

2) regarding who travels through time and who doesn't. . . obviously richard (and the others?) don't based on him giving locke the compass and everything, soooo could the hand-chopping crew be someone that we haven't seen yet because the night time is clearly some time in the future. it seems that only the losties and faraday/caroline/asian-mind-reader guy are skipping through time

I don't know if it's that simple as far as day=past, night=future. I was under the impression that time was passing in both, and remember when everyone's on the beach and Miles brings back the boar? I think that was supposed to be in the past (before their settlement had been built), and it was at night.

And I definitely think the uniforms on the hand-chopping guys were meant to look outdated.

Anyway, really fun episodes, and it's cool to see the more badass Locke of season 1 make a little bit of a comeback.

When Ana Lucia said that I blurted out, "Oh, that's fucked up." haha

Also, my roommate and I could not stop laughing as Frogurt (Neil) got "lit up", so to speak.

HIGH-larious

my observations:

1. SHOTGUN WILLIE!

2. Why is Sawyer all of a sudden so uncomfortable without a shirt? Does Davidoff now own exclusive rights to images of a shirtless Josh Holloway?

3. I want the recipe for Cheech's caviar hoagies.

4. I think Widmore has somehow turned Sun bad. She definitely seems to be up to something sinister when talking to Kate.

5. As much as I love this show, Hurley is one Donnie Wahlberg sighting away from it jumping the shark.

6. More Miles-issued snark, please!

7. Hurry up and kill off the annoying British redhead already.

8. Ethan Rom will always be the creepiest character on this show.

9. Back to Sawyer, since when does he SLAP???

10. And while we're considering cast flotsam to jettison, can we get rid of Rose and Bernard? They're no Helen and Tom Willis.

more thoughts as they come to me...

What part of Britain exactly do you think she's from?

I also don't understand. She may not have the most beautiful face ever, but count me in the club who would throw it in her. I'd rather see Kate killed off than her. haha

He is getting more and more annoying. At first, when he didn't have so much screen time, he was one of my favorite characters but now I cringe about every time he talks.

Yeah, Hurley hasn't a good line in a long time. Also, I think I was always secretly hoping that if there was ever a point in the show where a long passage of time happened, like oh, say, 3 years, that they'd put that dude on a serious diet. His man-boobs almost make me want to cry.

Hand-chopping crew are British, i.e. Charles Widmore's/pre-Dharma crew. The producers didn't make it subtle. "Jones", the yelling fella, was wearing period military-style fatigues and obviously had a "British" accent.

i disagree... i think with all the experiments he conducted back at the university, the effects started to wear down on him so that's why he's so scatterbrained. the notebook is his guide to help him remember.

It's easy casting Jeremy Davies as a "scatterbrained, genius quantum physicist" because he "acts" the same way in every role I've seen him in.

Well, they do have to consider the continuity of the character. What's sad is that the actor playing him has to stay FAAAAAT. Is ABC going to pay his medical bills from his diabetes / heart disease?

If Hurley all of a sudden lost weight, I think the audience could suspend disbelief. I'd even be ok with him going on the biggest loser in real life.

My point was that they could have worked into the story him losing weight over the 3-year period off the island. They would just have to put in him in an XXtra FAT suit for flashbacks and such.
