I saw Sin City last night. Pretty weird, but wow, Jessica Alba played the sexiest role that I have seen in a long time. That stripper cowboy outfit was hot!

Keep hearing Chop Shop was one of the most-overlooked films of the year. I'll get around to it one of these days.

Shotgun Stories was decent. I think the leading actor is great, and would get more work if not for his eyes.

Let me know what you think of this. Jeff Nichols is the brother of Ben Nichols (Lucero), who also provides some of the music of the film.

For a better picture set in the "real" US South, check out Ballast.

angst i dunno where i heard about this from. it's shot on video and it's not great but it was sort of interesting. it's kind of like a lamer version of teeth. the nerdy guy is pretty weird but the lead actress gets naked a lot and she's got a great ass. i dunno, maybe worth a viewing if you're really bored.

kaun i haven't finished watching this but it's hilariously awful. it's like a bollywood version of when a stranger calls except everything is so over the top. there should be a drinking game where you take a drink every time the businessman says "ma'am". you'd be drunk within 10 minutes. at least the sound effects sound cool because they're all echoey and shit.

This was set and shot in the town where my Pops grew up. It was decent, but nothing great.

"Hold Me Close" from Lucero gets a fair amount of playing time.

Saw "The Wrestler" Friday. It was very well done and Mickey Rourke deserves all the praise he's getting for it. It certainly wasn't a feel good movie though, really depressing.

Crazy, chaotic, and thrilling animation. Visually and stylistically reminds me of an exaggerated comic book. That is not a bad thing.

So in a fit of boredom this weekend, I watched Gremlins and Back To The Future II. Gremlins, which I'd never really seen all the way through, was pretty goddam terrible. Wow. BTTF2, however, remains solid sunday afternoon fare, much in the Swayze/Lundgren tradition. Consistently entertaining, and not incompatible with a hangover.

I got Saw V from netflix the other day.
I'm really not sure why I decided to get this.
I'm sure it's very bad.

There was nothing else to get.

watched benjamin button over the weekend, MEHHHHHHHHH. thought it was overrated and too many parallels to forest gump, which made it almost annoying.

last night, boy made me watch THE TOXIC AVENGER, some ridiculous over-the-top troma b-movie.

i'm in the middle of the john adams hbo miniseries. worth a look

but be aware the camera work is weird at times. . . i'm watching a biopic, i don't want an mtv camera-at-an-angle shot or super-shaky-cam. thankfully it's not too distracting, but c'mon guys.

original or the remake? i hated the remake and thought maybe the unrated version would be a little better but it's even worse.

and that last templar thing on tv on sunday night? the biggest steaming pile of shit i've seen in a long time. . . made the davinci code look like the effing godfather!

i got about 15 minutes into it and shut it down. . . and that's saying a lot because i knew it wasn't gonna be great but really wanted it to be. . . um. . . at least mediocre.

Remake.
Yeah, I didn't love the remake, but there were some things I did like about it. However, i'm a sucker for long docs. about the making of movies so I bought it.

i saw outlander tonight. it was kind of a mix of beowulf meets alien. the cgi looked shitty at first but when they finally revealed the alien, it's one of the coolest looking monsters i've seen in awhile. there was some decent gore too but ron perlman was kind of underused.

also, does anyone have this dvd? I have problems with it in my set-top dvd player, but not in my computer. Weird encoding maybe. Just wonderin'.

No one ever gets my reference to Shreveport, LA being the equivalent of the parallel future where Biff is the casino boss.
