Anyone heard of these guys? Someone was playing it in a record store I was in and it piqued my interest. Sounded kind of like late 90's emo meets New Model Army. Or something.

Yeah, listening to some if it on youtube/myspace/etc. I'm actually not sure if this is what I was hearing in the store. Maybe I made a mistake. It sounds kind of meh, but catchy at times.

Anyway, whoever these guys are apparently they are about to be bigger than Jesus, because all of the shows listened for their UK tour are sold out. Once that British Press hype gets going, it can't be stopped.

this is sarcasm, right? there're a dozen bands every week the british press hypes that never get any attention in the US outside new york, los angeles and sxsw.

i was pushing "does this mean you're moving on?" a couple years ago, but that somehow got trumped by "sometime around midnight" as the single. that's getting major airplay in most large markets, yet their tour has put them mostly in small venues. no wonder they're selling them out.

My friend is obsessed with these guys, so I've seen them several times over the past couple years. It's good to see a local LA band get some national exposure.

I've been hearing that "Sometime Around Midnight" for a good while now. I like the song a lot. I imagine they'd be pretty awesome live.

I like the name (re: Don Delilo/White Noise references above), but that's about it.

Damn dude. The first people I thought of when I heard this song were you, and the Failburger Brothers Matt and Chris.

It sounds like a band obsessed with U2, The Clash and Springsteen to me, and as such sounds a lot like Gaslight Anthem filtered through a U2 delay pedal. As a matter of fact, they were discussing the new album on Springsteen channel this morning.

My dad has a friend who is a huge audiophile (obsessed with speakers and clarity) and he loves this band. Pretty good.

Not my link, but this is the album from a few years ago:

I just deleted their new one a couple days ago. S'alright, if you like melodramatic mainstream gloss. I don't hear any Clash or Springsteen, but U2 and Coldplay? Check.

Is why I didn't expect anyone here to have posted about them.

My sister loves these guys. Me, I think they're okay, but they have the second worst band name in existence. Number 3 would be The Joy Formidable (who I love) and I can't remember #1.

edit: Jack's Mannequin may be #1, but they may be worse than their name.
