He should have been ejected for pushing that dude over in the second half.

In addition to the #1 defense, Pitt had the toughest schedule.

i don't really have an argument. i don't believe i have even uttered a word of complaint in here that my team was on the outside looking in with a better record. i don't think it's unfair or anything. all i am saying is that 2 teams that i think are pretty mediocre played a great game against each other.

Weren't the Steelers 12-4, and one of the best defenses in football this year? It's really really hard assert that the Steelers are mediocre. Maybe mediocre on offense.

Also, 6 of the 7 teams with the toughest-rated schedules had losing records. Pittsburgh had a winning record.

If they win one more in the next year or 2, you'll be hearing about the Steelers and Rothlisberger like you were about Brady last year and two years ago. Solid fucking squad, and definitely the best team in the league.

just for the record, if the steelers win another in the next year or 2, that would make 3 in 5 or 6 years. pats won 3 in 4 years. so maybe people will talk about them like they talk about the pats, but whoever does will be a jackass. also, with ben's line in the first one he won, and a pretty mediocre game save for one drive against an atrocious defense in the other, there really is no comparison anyway.

and on another note, i have yet to see the steelers beat the patriots in the playoffs. injuries are part of the game and all, and the steelers deserved to win both of their recent sb's, but i don't expect to see the steelers back in the dance when tommy comes back.

On the Steelers first Super Bowl run this decade, they avoided the Patriots due Brady & Belichick's loss to... wait for it, wait for it... Jake Plummer*.

Then, Steelers went into Mile High the next weekend & won. Handily.

which part of the post offends you so much? 3 in 4 years is better than 3 in 5 years. i assume you agree with that.

and whoever said that jake plummer beat the pats, that game was handed to the broncos on 2 horseshit pass interference calls.

Yeah, because the NFL hates it when the Pats win...

I suppose you've also got an excuse for the Colts second half comeback in '06 as well?

Look thrillhouse, its ok to be a fan of your team and nobody here is disputing that the Patriots are the team of this decade but when you raise them to the level of infallibility and take refuse to acknowledge that, yes, other teams win too, it makes you come off as an ass. This isn't a bar in Boston so that shit falls on deaf ears here.

you all hear a lot that isn't said. get your eyes checked.

i personally find it way more infantile to pretend that the cardinals are a good team just because they played in the super bowl.

Not just played. Came within a drive from WINNING the Superbowl. They have a former MVP at QB, and 2 of the best WRs in the game.

I know, I know - They played in a weak conference and would not have been in the playoffs otherwise. But as the Giants showed last year, it's not about if you're good, it's about WHEN you're good. And the Cardinals were as good as anybody at the end of the season when it counted.

Well, exactly, not just played well but literally inches (the interception return, the second toe barely grazing the ground on the winning touchdown) from beating the "best" team inthe NFL this season. 377 yards passing against the NFL's best defense (second best in SB history), and Fitzgerald, totally targeted by the "best defense" rising to the occasion with two memorable touchdown routes/catches. By any sane measure the Cards were a "good" team in the postseason, and were a "very good" team in the SB.

I can understand, however, thrill's irrational love for the Pats, given that I irrationally hate Tommy boy.

ok, you are pretty much just proving my point that the steelers were not a great team either. the cards defense is atrocious and the steelers almost gave up the biggest comeback in superbowl history.

look, i am not saying there were no awesome players in that game. just that the teams weren't that impressive. i don't think it's nearly the fringe opinion that you guys are pretending it is. in a year with no dominant teams in all of football, those teams went 12-4 and 8-8. they suck compared to most superbowl teams, get over it.

the patriots have nothing to do with it, i didn't bring them up. i also have not complained about their hard luck with the playoff system. if anything, you guys irrationally hate the pats and take it out on me.

No, I'm proving my point that these were the best teams from their respective side of the pool, when they played each other. Just like the Patriots were when they won the Superbowl.

Using your flawed logic only hurts your favorite team. Clearly, the giants did not have the best "body of work" last season, and had many holes as a team. However, they beat your team. So clearly, the patriots are not very good. That logic just doesn't make sense.

He didnt' say the Steelers weren't great. He said the Cardinals played in a weak division.

I sometimes think it's hard to classify a division as weak, especially if the teams are evenly matched. They end up beating each other in the conference games and tarnishing each other's records, which in your eyes reflects on whether they are good or bad.

And then he added as a matter of logic that because the Cardinals played in a weak division and the Steelers did not win easily, then the Steelers must suck too.

again, you guys are the ones bringing up the patriots, not me. but if you want to know about last year's game, the best team didn't win it. it happens. the giants front 4 was tremendous, which made it close, but the pats lost on an absolute miracle play that occurred on a drive that should have been over when a corner who pulled a $60 million contract the next year dropped a ball thrown right to him. before you all get upset about it, i am not saying the giants didn't deserve to win the game, but i am saying that it took a lot of luck and one of the most miraculous plays i have ever seen.

if you want to pick on a championship patriot team, pick on 01. they needed a lot of luck to get there. but then they kicked the rams ass and the league had to go changing rules because my boys beat the shit out of their receivers so hard.

You know, Thrill, on Super Tecmo Bowl for for the first Nintendo - The Eagles were the best squad on there. I once went an entire season without giving up a TD by strategically using the reset button.

Then Jerome Brown died and Reggie White signed with the Packers and Randall Cunningham died.

There is no point to this story, except to illustrate how fucking facile your arguments are.

well, if you want to talk tecmo, really there is no reason to play super tecmo bowl because you are better off just playing raiders v giants on regular tecmo bowl.

i am still waiting for you to tell me what part of my argument is facile. this year's super bowl teams are not very good compared to the super bowl teams of the past. it's not even really debatable. i don't see what's offensive about it either.
