Robert Earl Keen
Femi Kuti and the Positive Force
Robyn Hitchcock & The Venus 3
King Sunny Adé
Raphael Saadiq
Ted Leo and the Pharmacists
Tift Merritt
Alejandro Escovedo
Vieux Farka Touré
Alberta Cross

I'd be interested in all of these. Its a pretty good and diverse list of artists and includes a bunch I'd love to see but would probably never bother going to see on their own which is what a good fest should be all about.

Now if only they'd hold this only during the day in a city where there were fun things to do at night, I might actually consider going.

I'd probably go to this if it were feasible to go back and forth to Nashville or something.

Yeah there's no "Black Kunt", "Fecal Spray", or "Kradle of Smegma".

fecal spray sounds like a good band name, but anyone (besides mortal kombat) that spells C words with a K is probably nu metal as fuck, and sucks shit.

i just dont like the shit they play in urban outfitters which makes up half of this festival and i dont like the hippie jam bands and i dont like what i think christian referred to as "dad rock" (great term!)

but i do like merle haggard!

i wasn't talking down on anyone, so i don't know why you got so pissed. just stating my opinion, i'm so very terribly sorry.

Yeah, there's very little on that list to strengthen your scene cred with a bunch of dudes that have beards and read comic books.

this is coming from a person who is discussing working a festival where mgmt, the decemberists, yeah yeah yeahs, band of horses, coheed and cambria, the ting tings, crystal castles, bon iver, etc. are playing.

fuck i forgot al green is playing. that's pretty awesome.

and if you make fun of comics and beards and scene cred you're making fun of this entire board (minus the ladies, of course, who i hope don't have beards)

I actually thought he was defending you with that post.

"dudes with beards and read comic books" I thought was a reference to the Obners.

Straight up, Bonnaroo itself is a city for three days with shows going damn near till dawn (and beyond in Kanye's case last year). Part of the fun was wandering around the camp city in the late/early hours with a friend looking for 'shrooms and settling in with a bunch of folks in a tent tripping and chanting "Lights! Up my MIND!" for a couple hours straight.

Do not sell this fest short. Especially with a lineup like this.

Oh, I'm not selling IT short, I'm selling ME short - my appetite for those types of shenanigans has shrunk considerably. I'd need a shower, a clean room, and air conditioning at the end of every day's activities.

exactly. add a nice dinner and a night of drinking/barhopping rather than camping with a bunch of hippies and hipsters. I like the Jazzfest model. Full afternoon of drinking and music followed by a cocktail, a nap, a shower, and a night on the town that's not focused on live bands and $7 warm beers followed by a good four hours minimum of sleep in a nice bed with high linen count sheets and ac. rinse repeat.

I understand that this sort of event has appeal to some but not to me. Neither does coachella, glastonbury, etc etc...

Last time I did a full-blown, multi-day music festival was the 2nd Atlanta Pop Festival in 1970. I was still plenty young enough that sleeping bags and all that shit over 3 days of July weather in middle Georgia shouldn't have been a problem, but when I got ready to sleep for an hour or two, I took over the bed in a VW camper armed with a quart of shine, a huge hunk of Lebanese hash, and a machete, with a warning to all and sundry to keep a clear 3 foot distance. These days, room service is required.

oh, christian.. you're just always going to be so narrow minded that you'll only choose to see what the fuck you feel like seeing out of people. i'm sure half the dudes that come out to metal shows don't give two fucks about comics. half of them don't have beards.

but yes, denim jackets will always prevail, and pbr will always be the cheapest beer at a bar.

yeah, i guess they all definitely should spend 3 more dollars on a stella artois, christian.

Narrow-mindedness is DDR's best quality.

to be fair, trying to come off as worldly and jaded 24/7 isn't easy when you're 19.
