It's really ironic, because neuro's probably got the highest IQ of all Obnish, yet some of the most basic observations slip past him without detection. Gotta love him, though!

No discussion of last night's episode? Maybe not as good as last week, but this season continues to deliver, I think.

Do we think that Miles is Dr. Chang's son?

I really wish they could have picked someone who looked more like older Danielle Rousseau to play the young Danielle Rousseau. Just casting the chick who played Alex would have worked better.

And I'm really disappointed that whats-her-name isn't dead yet. It looks like they might have Faraday actually figure out a way to save her. Bummer.

The trouble with this season so far is all of the big revelations aren't surprising at all. For example, we knew that was Rousseau in the boat as soon as we heard the French accents. I think this season will inevitably be full of that sort of non-surprising surprise, because the show has stuck itself in a time loop that's going to deal with stuff we already know/anticipate.

which I'm ok with, really. It's hard to follow too many twists and turns when you drink during the show.

I don't think these things are really supposed to shocking individually, but rather they'll reveal a lot of unexpected connections and help to illuminate the overall history of the island and just what exactly is going on between Widmore and Linus.

They're presented as shocking. Last night's reveal of Rousseau was the episode-ending cliffhanger, and it was hugely disappointing in that capacity.

Well, each episode sort of has to end that way, but I think that this early on in the season, we're not really going to get anything all that big.

What's interesting about Rousseau and co. is what happened to them while they were on the island, and I think the cliffhanger is meant as anticipation of that. She was the only survivor, after all, and we don't really know what exactly what was behind that particular catastrophe. We could assume that the Others just killed them all like they did with the American soldiers from the '50s, but I'm thinking, or at least hoping, that it's a little more complex than that.

Essentially what I'm saying is that, much like previous seasons, nothing has really happened yet, but a lot of things are getting set up with a lot of little teasers along the way.

I guess I'd agree with the non-surprise surprise, with the exception of Widmore being an Other. I thought that was very surprising.

so if locke and the gang actually went to the hatch when the light was shining, then locke would have confronted himself?

The young Rousseau was definitely disappointing. Good episode all around though.

I hadn't thought about Miles being related to Dr. Chang. I also wonder if they are somehow linked with Sun and/or Jin.

of course it was implied. i just wonder how, if such a meeting took place, it could fit in with faraday's "rules" that you can't change what happened in the past.

I thought the cliffhanger was more of an "oh shit, how is Jin going to react to finding out that was young Rousseau?" than the fact that they revealed it to be her...maybe...

But, overall, I do think it's been all back story. We're getting a crash (no pun intended) course in Island history. It's the main character this year I guess.

It was sort of obvious that Ben was the one trying to get Aaron, though.

Here are my top 10 observations after watching the fourth episode of Lost Season 5:

1. Has anyone ever successfully outpaddled gunfire WITHOUT the random intervention of a metaphysical hyperspace button?
2. Is it just me, or did Claire's Mum become immediately flush like a dingo in heat when a drenched Jack showed up at her hotel room door? She sure loves her some Dr. Shepherds! Who knew they had cougars down under?
3. It kind of surprised me to know Ben has a lawyer, as he's always struck me as the type who would serve as his own counsel if ever in any sort of legal bind. I can only imagine what it might be like were he to ever cross-examine Henry Gale...
4. When trying to decide what to get Sun for Valentine's Day, your best bet is to send her a box of Russell Stover assorted chocolates and hollow points.
5. I'm starting to think Juliet might be some type of cyborg or android, given her complete and utter inability to express or convey anything remotely resembling human emotion.
6. Are bounty hunters being lured to Sayid by widely distributed posters that say "Wanted: Dead or Asleep?" ENOUGH WITH THE TRANQ DARTS ALREADY!
7. Network TV hasn't seen this many nosebleeds since Lisa Loopner's boyfriend Todd was administering repeated noogies to her on SNL back in the late '70s.
8. I have a sneaking suspicion Charlotte will eventually rebuff Faraday's advances in favor of saving herself for Marvin Hamlisch.
9. Hurley should keep the orange jump suit after he gets out of jail. That way, if he ever needs to become incognito, he can quickly and easily disguise himself as the Syracuse mascot.
10. Unless Sawyer has managed to stumble onto the remains of an abandoned Dharma Supercuts at some point off camera, shouldn't his hair be at least Sebastian Bach length by now?

Although I get the meaning of the statement, I am not sure of the meaning of the word "distirbuted".

Yeah, but I guess on second look it's really just a typo and not really that far off.

Asshole FAIL.

ha, seriously. it seems most of them this season are acting rather like one-dimensional charactures.

They've shown scenes of people getting haircuts in prior seasons.

Decent episode, great ending. Maybe not shocking but it's about time we finally get to see some Rousseau backstory and find out for real what happened. All we know is that she said they got sick and she killed them all.

I guess Jin's been drifting in the ocean throughout every time jump. Which means we'll only see this Rousseau stuff until the next flash and then presumably he'll skip ahead or back alongside Sawyer and co. By the way, what's with Jin being lingually bitchslapped all the time? He finally starts to learn some decent English and gets thrown in with a group of Frenchies now.

Who were the people chasing and shooting at our heroes and what's happened to Rose, Bernard, and Vincent? Juliet didn't recognize the style of boats and some Oceanic competition had their own brand of waterbottle littering the beach. They were in the future at that point before they did the 16 years backward jump.

It was really obvious that it was Ben orchestrating Kate and Sayid and everyone which was why I was glad that he just outright admitted it. All we need now is someone to disarm Sun, pick up Hurley, and call the Humes and we'll be good to go.
