Yeah, I hope it's just the first finished song and not the best from Kingdom of Rust.

from what i've read, it's the demo version of this tune, not the mastered/finished album version.

i also don't think it's so bad.

It's just sort of boring. Not terrible but a let-down as the first song. Glad to hear it's a demo.

i just d/l'ed this from their site... looking forward to the new album, it's been quite awhile since we've heard anything from doves.

I really liked "Lost Souls" when it came out. I never listened to "Last Broadcast" for some reason.

I remember trying with "Some Cities" but after about 3-4 spins it never really resonated. Actually, that record is prime for me giving it another shot.


I'll check out the new one.......but my expectations are low.

These two new songs are really good, but i have a beef with Doves, South, Interpol etc.

On all three of these bands' debuts, there was a mood to them that none of the three have been able to duplicate since. When i think of listening to "Sea Song" and "Rise" they really took the listener on a journey.

The same can be said for the band, South, who had an amazing debut, and now are decent, and likeable, but sound less creative/absorbing.

I will always want to see Doves live, and will love it, but IMO they have yet to replicate, or more correctly worded, capture the feel and emotion of Lost Souls.

I really dont want to hear country tinged Doves. I want sea-spray, open-moody take-your-head on a journey music.

i agree with you in regards to South. i'll go a bit further and say their follow up albums are pretty awful.

the rest of the Doves discography is still pretty damn good, even though they never come close to lost souls. certain songs come very close ("there goes the fear" comes to mind right now).

but i will continue to check out any new Doves material, where as i don't even have any idea if South are even together any more.

Holy God, "Kingdom of Rust" is a very very good song.

I haven't been able to get into anything after Lost Souls, but I keep trying.

I liked Last Broadcast pretty well but didn't care for the last one. Don't have high hopes for this one either. I'm pretty sick of them overall.
