Yeah, it sucks being a made-up stereotype.

How do you like being a redneck fratboy?

If your going to stereotype at least get them right - That's a coonass fratboy. Completely different than a redneck fratboy.

But to answer your question, I like it very much. I have friends. I've had sex with an actual female. All stuff you think about in granny's basement, while listening to Can.

Was this moment of degeneration the same moment you insulted me first?

"don't know anything about me" Please read earlier where I said you take this way too seriously.

Um, my comments are in reference to drink's comments, which were in reference to me laughing at Rads changing his words. A joke by Rads. Need a reading comprehension course?

Or it's totally possible that the 10 beers I had at dinner have completely affected my ability to read this thread. Actually, that' s more likely.

Can I be the redneck fratboy now? C'mon, pleeeeeeease.

For the (my) record:

Lonesome Crowded West + Moon and Antarctica >>>>>>> all other MM

Slanted and Enchanted + CRCR >>>>>>>>> all other Pavement (with an "I really like Westing" caveat)

This is the argument I don't get though. I'll admit to having never heard Lonesome Crowded West but I own Moon and Antarctica and I honestly fail to see how it's much different from Good News. Both of those, TO ME, sound very similar in production and songwriting.

I should pull them out and listen again but I just don't see why someone would like Moon and not what came after it. The argument of "oh they got popular and they changed" is lame and I don't buy that. The only thing I can see is that fans of theirs had simply moved on by the time they broke big.

I really tried with "This is a Long Drive....." but found very little redeemable with it. Maybe in context of the time it came out it seperated itself from the pack but I much prefer the direction they went after it.

There are two versions of Moon and Antarctica... the newer remastered one sounds a lot like the mix of Good News. The older one sounds a little bit rawer but the songs themselves aren't as jagged as Lonesome Crowded.

I like Good News. I actually sort of agree that Moon isn't really much better. I would also agree that Long Drive isn't really that good, but I still like it more than their last album. Their first really good album was Lonesome Crowded West, and I would argue that they've never really improved on that other than their gradual movement towards a bonafide hit with "Float On".

I think "Float On" is a great song, and it's great that it did so well. "Dashboard" and "Florida"... not so much. Really everything on We Were Dead sounds like something they've done before and done better, but without as much polish. That's why, after about a dozen or so listens to it, I never really want to hear it again. I'd sooner pull out any of their other albums or preferably the Building Nothing comp.

Let's not drag the subjectivity of comedy into an already cantankerous thread.

There is no subjectivity to comedy, Charlie. Only people like you and I who view Goodfellas as high comedy, and these broke brains. :P

Who doesn't think Goodfellas is funny? Or at least 40-50% of it.

How does one not laugh at Stepbrothers?

Or Goodfellas?

Or Full Metal Jacket, for that matter?

Other than music, comedy is probably one of the most subjective things I can think of, though. There's forty different shades of black.

Man, I can't believe I hadn't seen this thread until now. All of a sudden I realized "there's no fucking way people could care about the Yeah Yeah Yeahs enough for 100 posts"...the Drank/Kingfish debate was golden.
