Thoughts?

Personally, I'm sorry to see the Ravens lose Bart Scott and probably Ray Lewis. It will be a loooooong year if Lewis does indeed sign with the Broncos.

It sounds like the Eagles worked out a trade for Lito, which is definitely a good thing. But if the rumors of Dawkins going to the Denver Fucking Broncos are true, I am going be really upset.

If the Eagles are smart (which they are), they let him go...Paying too much for older defensive players (even if they are still effective) is something that the best teams just don't do.

the Eagles are good about getting rid of older players at the right time, but i think they should/should've make an exception here. The defense had a phenomenal year and he's the emotional and physical leader. Your McNabb window is getting smaller and smaller, i don't see how a shake up on defense is a good idea.

The fact that two Eagles fans thinks its a bad move and the Eagles front office (who have made them the most consistently winning NFC team of this decade) think its a good move tells me its probably a good move. Just sayin'.

Also, Kellen Winslow Jr. to the Succaneers....have fun with all that.

you sound like the Eagles front office, calling themselves the gold standard when they don't have a ring.

For Mike Vrabel's next act, he turns to shit.

it's vrabel AND Cassel for a 2nd rounder? i'd have thought that the Pats could get more.

no kidding, Cassel isn't exactly a proven NFL starter, but that's all they could get out of the deal?...

Don't forget the Pats acquired one of the greatest receivers in history (Moss) for a fourth round pick and he went on to catch 23 TD passes.

The point is that in a league where the cap means everything, trades don't necessarily make sense in the traditional sense of an NBA or MLB trade.

Actually, this is very much an NBA type trade to get that money off the books so they can be in play for some other free agents. $14M a year to work with will get you quite a bit at "non-skill" positions.

Except in the NBA you don't have the option to "franchise" a player like the Pats did with Cassell. Although the "sign and trade" that they are going to pull off to make their cap work is sort of an NBA Light deal.

TJ Houshmandzadeh to Seattle is reportedly a done deal. Nice pickup for the Hawks.

Yeah, good pickup. I did have to laugh a little bit at an interview I heard with TJ citing how well he got along with Coach Mora as one of his primary reasons for signing with them....Welcome to your new world, Marco: You've now got one of the biggest "players coaches" in history and I dont mean that in a good way.

Yeah, I've heard rumblings of this. I think Seattle jumped too early in naming Mora Jr. "coach in waiting". Given he was the secondary coach last season and the performance of that unit on the field (terrible), I'm concerned about how he'll handle being head coach.

I was actually hoping TJ would magically appear in a Ravens jersey next year.

...and from the continuing saga of saving face, RayRay is probably coming back to the Ravos as his agent does damage control and back-pedals.

Maybe between his experience with the Falcons and hanging around with Hulmgren for a couple years, he's learned some lessons. Hope so because I don't necessarily dislike the guy.

Sickening deal. I won't fault him for getting his money but, IMO, the Redskins will never see the player he was last year ever again. Dude has proven to be very lazy in the past and is of questionable character off the field.

There's also this with regards to DeAngelo Hall:

Quote:
An unrestricted free agent in the 2009 offseason, Hall agreed to a new six-year contract with the Redskins on February 27. The deal contained $23 million in guaranteed money and had a maximum value of $55 million.

WTF???

I know this has been Snyder's M.O. since day 1 but this is a new level of stupidity/insanity.
