Thought I'd alert you to the latest signing to Ninja Tune's Counter Records imprint. Michael Johnson, ex-Holopaw and Lilys, frequent Daedelus collaborator, and professor of music at the Ape School Observatory of Archaic Synthesizers and Gongs in Philadelphia. RIYL: Bowie and Eno, suppose.

I was wondering what happened to Holopaw the other day.

This isn't John Orth, the "Holopaw" guy (a.k.a. the guy who cowrote the Ugly Cassanova record). As far as I know, Holopaw either have an album in the can that's waiting to come out, or it's very close to finished. This guy (Ape School) used to be in Holopaw, then quit to be in The Lilys, then started doing this...

...and it's pretty nice.

Forget my words, go for the sounds. Identify the sounds, hear his words. These songs are really well written and crafted. It's so good you'll be surprised I like it.

that's a stream of the whole album by APE SCHOOL
i really think you will like it, its weirdness, accessibility, mystery. it's primitive, quirky, colourful, memorable. like analog instruments breathing rock songs.

It's official. The record is great. Pitchfork loses. Its writers are losers:

New animation for "Wail to God". You do HAVE TO see this. And I will continue to repost until sufficient responses have been voiced.

There are boobs (animated).

Also, coming this fall is a remix EP featuring the works of Fog, Daedelus, Yppah, Keith Sunset (CYNE), Arc In Round, and Pollination.
