Damn good lineup.

All I want to know: is the boy-girl duo of my cousin & his girlfriend playing any local showcases? (They relocated to Austin about two years ago.)

So question: if I were to theoretically drive to Austin next week, would there be space for me and a friend on someone's floor for the weekend?

If you're skinny, sure.

I am pretty skinny and so is my friend, so I might get back to you early next week.

O.k. here's what I know.

My friends Andrew (gets here Tue night) and Ki (Wed. morning) will be in the guest room. Paul (Idiotjed) will most likely be on the couch, he gets in on Monday.

My friend Matt will be playing, and his band of an undetermined number of people will be here for a few days, most likely sleeping in what used to be my rehearsal space on air mattresses and sleeping bags. There will most likely be plenty of room in there to crash out, and failing that, there's the living room.

Of course you're welcome to come and do the hang.

It's gonna be a madhouse at Phil's next week.

MADHOUSE!

Just posted my sxsw podcast.

I'll be lucky if I manage to catch half of those bands on this playlist.

the best showcase for sxsw is the teepee records one. ancestors, earthless, annihilation time on the 19th. the 20th zoroaster is playing.

y'all should check out ancestors. mindblowingly amazing shit. arik roper did the artwork for their album. so fucking amazing.

Damn good lineup.

Look out for my friend, Tim, who's a photographer. He often shoots the Little Radio parties.

at the moment, i seriously have little to no idea about or desire to think about what's going on next week. somehow, i feel like my life will simply unfold in whatever manner it deems fit at the time.

Planning for SXSW is folly. Just jump in the raging river and float.

yeah, there were a few bands i really wanted to see when i went but most of the fun was stumbling across new ones. there were some great ones i went to in 2006 with colin.

Ah. That would be the year he should've "died".

I think Joey Crack had the best line about that fiasco.

Looks like I'm in. I'm getting in Friday afternoon and my buddies are using hotel points for free nights Friday and Saturday night. Pretty pumped.

Sweet, Tommy. It is a great time. My plans of a last minute run were dashed when I was reminded my inlaws were headed here for the week....talk about your all time epic fail turnarounds.

I'm still in Austin -- I decided to skip a week of school and drop a class in order to check out some of SXSW, which I hope I don't regret later. Is there anyway to see any official showcases without a wristband, or should I just stick to the (wealth of) free day and night shows?

Showlistaustin.com seems to have a pretty comprehensive list of free shows for anyone who's interested.

I should be here until Thursday or Friday -- if any of you are going to the free Emo's showcase on Wednesday, I'll see you there. How early should I show up in order to get into something like this? Also, is there anything going on tomorrow that anyone can recommend? I was thinking about checking out Possessed By Paul James but I don't know about the rest of the day.
