Anyone?

I'm covering their "surprise" show at SXSW on Friday night.

I've obviously got a working knowledge of the big songs, the history and some of the back catalog (I own "Master of Puppets") but I'd like to be a little better prepared and none of their original work is on Rhapsody or Lala.

So Dalen or whoever, any way to help a dude out and box up a "best of the rest" set for me? That'd be beyond awesome of you.

Thanks

i had this same issue in january. i went through a crash course on metallica in two days before the show, but ended up filling in actual song titles through set lists found on their fan messageboards. my notebook was basically like "song #6 - blah blah blah" and then i matched it all up. i think it worked out fine.

they will absolutely not be playing a bunch of songs that dalen listed ("four horsemen", "invisible kid", "whiplash"), but that seems like a good starter session.

Yeah, I get that. This could be different since we don't know how long they'll be playing - there are a little more than 2 hours blocked out for them between Silversun Pickups and DJ Shadow. So it could be a pretty typical show for them. We shall see.

This is a weird circumstance. The main reason I'm the one covering it is because the venue has to seat me on the platform above the stage, which means I don't have to worry about the monstrous line there's going to be, which means I'll still be able to cover other stuff during the night.

Come over to my place and listen to my new roommate repeatedly bludgeon "The Unforgiven". He's been at it for the past two hours.

Death Magnetic is the should have been follow-up to ...And Justice For All...
