When do we think it's going to happen?

Cos if I didn't have to pay my CC bills, I'd be fookin' rich.

I don't want to do the right thing here if I can get off easy on the gubmint tit.

Suggestions?

If this would occur it sure would give a lot of people a fresh start in life.

I hope they can hold off a little bit so I can build up some real debt.

I'd love to get some free stuff.

I know, right.

I'm talking about writing a 5 figures-ish check this week....

Yeah, they'd have a fresh start to start living outside their means again. No one wants consequences to their actions anymore. I know this is sort of an "in jest" thread, but still...I'd be horrified if they did that.

What's the current proposition on this thing?
I haven't had a chance to look into it since the family got home.

What!?! I thought Loog was just being facetious.

I'd support reforming the bankruptcy 'reforms' that got though a few years ago (thanks Biden...), but a consumer credit bailout is unconscionable.

See, I hadn't heard anything about it, so it wouldn't surprise me if it happened.

It's a contract and according to Larry Summers, you can't break a contract.

I like how much of the credit problem, or at least some, seems to stem from people being given more credit at higher rates than they can possibly afford. And then the guy in that article defending the industry complains the regulations will keep them from being able to offer as many credit cards to people who are bad credit risks like that would be a travesty. Gee...reallly? Think maybe that's the idea?

you have to love a business model where your best customer is a guy who can't ever afford his entire bill.

No shit. I also love the point of these banks coming to the government asking for mercy with an open hand, while using the same open hand to bitch-slap the unfortunate consumer into collection. The longer this goes on (AIG, etc.) the more I want firing squads or even, more appropriately, guillotines put into use.
