That seems to be the official greeting for all Dharma folk which should tie in with Jack, Kate, and Hurley being brought back to the barracks.

And it's actually in two weeks. There's no new episode next week for some reason.

So why did Hugo, Kate and Jack get sent to the 70s, while Locke seems to stay in 2008, even though he was time traveling originally?

I'm pretty sure they're all in 1977 now. We had no real indication of where Locke, Ben, and Cesar are but it wouldn't make sense for them to wind up in a different time than the rest of the airplane people.

I had assumed that they were all in 1977 as well, but now I don't think so. I think that everyone on the plane who vanished in the flash of light was transported back in time, and everyone who crashed with the plane (including Locke & Ben) is still in the present.

I think the conditions on the beach are evidence of this: the same settlements that were built by the previous crash survivors, and the rowboats. I don't think those would have been there in 1977.

I sorta gave up on trying to piece it all together, so now every week I just sit there like an Alzheimer's patient and let it wash over me.

felt more like a set-up episode, so i don't really want to bang on it for lack of substance. the pot definitely seems to be coming to a boil, though.

the fact that some of the passengers got sent to the 70s while those that remained in the plane stayed in the present was a nice twist. . . i just hope that it doesn't stretch the show too thin like the island/mainland competing stories did. having everyone on the island really streamlined the story and made it a lot more watchable.

Yeah, last night was definitely a bridging episode. It was plenty watchable, though, and didn't seem to drag.

It seems pretty obvious that Sayid is being set up to try and kill little boy Ben, which is pretty annoying considering that we know he can't succeed. That sort of thing just feels like more pointless drama to draw out the story.

So was Sun on the island as a youngster and that's why she isn't in 1977 with everyone else?

THAT MUST BE IT!!! She's Pierre Chang's baby, who somehow ended up adopted by Mr. Paik. Great catch, man!

It would ALSO explain why Sun was able to have her baby on the island without dying!

I wonder if the wardrobe director / "costume designer" was a UGA alumni? I loved the Uga sweatshirt on Hurley.

Please tell me my fellow UGA fans caught that. Squirq?

Right but Charlotte was on the island with the people traveling through time when the whole island/time thing went out of whack so that might explain why she traveled with them. Plus, it helps explain why she nose bled/died sooner...

I'm not convinced Sun has been there before but it's the only explanation I can think of for why she didn't get sucked into 1977 with everyone else.

So I guess people who didn't get sucked into the past were people who were/are there currently, like Ben. It's not that they were on the island before, it's that a younger version of them is already there in 1977. Maybe. It's a plausible theory.

Yeah, I couldn't think of any logical reason why Sun wouldn't have teleported off of the plane with the rest of the Oceanic Five but that's a pretty decent theory. Especially since it's been hinted that Paik is a cohort of Widmore.

They've done a great job of upholding the continuity so far but two things are really bothering me. Namely why Rousseau didn't recognize Jin when she first came to castaway camp back in season 1. And now why Ben wasn't shocked when he was first brought to castaway camp in season 2 and saw Sayid looking exactly the same after thirty years having passed.

Also interesting to note that Ben Linus is a good decade younger than Michael Emerson, the actor who plays him.

Locke isn't on the island in 1977, but still remains in 2008. There also have been one or two instances in which people traveled to times in which previous versions of themselves were on the island: Locke saw the light shooting out of the hatch; Sawyer saw Claire giving birth.

That's true, but Locke was also dead. And he's "special".

And yeah, there were instances where people were in the same time as their past selves, but in this particular scenario where they were trying to recreate the initial plane crash that got them on the island in the first place, it may be that the only ones sent back in time were the ones that "needed" to be there.

I mean, there's probably another reason behind it, but I just wanted to defend the logic behind my theory.

I'd like to think that Faraday was wrong one not being able to change the past, but I guess the island has brought people back from the dead before (well, not before, chronologically-speaking, but episode-wise).

The past 2 episodes are building toward something that badly needs a payoff at the end of the season, but I'm not sure what happens with Sayid and Ben at this point.

As for the show, I'm in the camp that the Valezentii equation (sp) was disrupted by our losties going back to dharma and fucking things up.

....and if I miss on that, when young Ben sprung Sayid, I heard past tense from young Ben when talking about his dad, Roger Workman...
