Bring on the new album!

The Indiana indie Jagjaguwar has a pretty thorough roster, as these things go: Bon Iver, Black Mountain, Okkervil River. But now they've scored themselves a major coup: Reunited alt-rock monsters Dinosaur Jr., still comprised of the original three members of J Mascis, Lou Barlow, and Murph, have signed with Jagjaguwar, according to the label. Dinosaur Jr. are currently putting the finishing touches on a new album and they hope to have it out this summer. Nice match, dudes.

I like the album "Beyond".

What other album(s) should I explore that has the same sort of feel?

My favorite band and my home state are now connected. Maybe now they come through town more than once every 15 years...

New album details (due 6/23):
Image

Track List:
01 Pieces
02 I Want You to Know
03 Ocean in the Way
04 Plans
05 Your Weather
06 Over It
07 Friends
08 Said The People
09 There's No Here
10 See You
11 I Don't Wanna Go There
12 Imagination Blind

Not sure that's the official album cover but it's been posted on both Lou Barlow's website and Freakscene so there's a good chance it is. I hope so, 'cause I love it.

Nice. I liked "Beyond" a lot the year it came out but I don't think I've pulled it out since. Didn't have a lot of staying power although I still love "Almost Ready". I'll certainly check this out.

I pulled out "Where You Been" about a month ago and I've come to the conclusion that it's my favorite Dino Jr. album. Just edging out "Green Mind". As much as the early 90's will be remembered as the Grunge era I still love the time period. Any musical climate that allows a song like "Start Choppin" to reach #3 on the modern rock charts is okay with me.

now this is some real talk. where you been slays and "start choppin'" had a profound effect on me at the time. i still drop that into sets more than probably anyone should in 2009.

some recent studio footage from p-fork yesterday. sounds good for some old folk.

i thought beyond was pretty good. i'd go with green mind for my personal favorite though.

Where You Been is my favorite album of all-time so I need no convincing on how great it is. The Out There/Start Choppin one-two punch is my standard for how to start any mix CD I ever make.

They'll probably get sued for copyright infringement from the Tolkien family.

so good.

Can't wait to see them and Mike Watt at the Ottobar in Bmore. Just saw Witch which was a little underwhelming, so I'm hoping Dino+Watt can bring the rawk.
