Thought a few of you might find this of interest.

I concentrated on the albums that were the real standouts from the late 80 early 90s, and those that influenced many bands after.

Katatonia - Brave Murder Day (Opeth guest vocaled for impressive results)
Sinsiter - Hate
Hypocrisy - Fourth Dimension
Paradise Lost - Icon
Dismember - Like An Ever Flowing Strream
Grotesque - In the Embrace of Evil (pre At the Gates members)
Acid Bath - When the Kite String Pops (Elephant Man and the Dead Boys )

you listed some of my favorites for sure...

Celtic Frost - To Mega Therion (in my top 10 Metal ever)
Katatonia - Brave Murder Day (the best material they've written)
Dismember - Like An Ever Flowing Stream (my 3rd fav Swedish Death Metal band)
Grotesque - In the Embrace of Evil (legendary & influential)

when i first saw your list I thought of Unleashed 's shadows in the deep but couldn't remember their name... that was the only album i had of theirs but i liked it alot

similar to entombed's clandestine and amorphis' the Karelian Isthmus

...maybe not though it's been awhile just remember jamming to those three records around the same time.

"Shadows..." is great, but I still prefer "Where No Life Dwells" overall.

"The Karelian Isthmus" is still stellar. I know berliner is a fan as well.

the first 3 Entombed albums cannot be topped...ever. absolutely THE BEST death metal ever recorded imo, especially Left Hand Path.
