I was talking to a Nun before my break about depression and she suggested that I take up a martial arts or Yoga practice. She specifically mentioned Aikido. I've taken Yoga before, and like it, but am wondering whether something more assertive would be better.

Has anyone here studied Aikdo or other martial arts?

my bro studied in japan...he left the states a pudgy, foppish dandy that i could easily pick on

he came back a year later, slim and chiseled, and put me in a wrist lock that brought me down to one knee

I did some browsing on Youtube (I must be getting old, I never think about these new services for info). I'm not sure how practical it is in real-life situations, but its movements are gorgeous. I'm much more concerned about the spiritual aspects than kicking someone's ass, so this may be the thing for me.

There's a school in Toledo, so I've left a message to see if I can observe some classes.

Spade Kitty is getting pretty far along in his Akido training.
Ask him.
