I'm looking forward to giving this a listen. I liked his last one, but not enough to purchase it.

yeah, i though his last one was okay but didn't really like that it sounded so distorted, which thankfully this one doesn't sound like so far.

I really liked some of the songs on Pixel Revolt but his last album did nothing for me. I thought that maybe I'd like his older stuff better, bought Mass Occult Figurines, and found that I didn't like that either.

I'll download this (thanks), but I'm not expecting much.

Time Travel Is Lonely, Life and Death of an American Fourtracker, and Cellar Door are the essential ones.

This will really be a make-or-break for me, as I didn't like either Emerald City or Pixel Revolt. I used to LOVE JV, but that love has slipped to like. Hopefully, this one will stop the downward spiral.

i think this is probably his weakest album. a lot of the songs just sound like they're rehashes of some of his better tunes from other albums. i guess there's some good ideas here but it's mostly pretty forgettable. i don't even think i'd actually purchase this one and i've bought all his others.

i wonder why this is being released on dead oceans and not barsuk?

Dead Oceans = hip label putting out lots of records by new respectable artists and distributed by secretly canadian...

or Barsuk - making Jade Tree look busy these days.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree with this. I could see it possibly growing on me, but I didn't hear anything that's gonna make me want to give it repeated listens.

Definitely more break than make. The downward spiral continues.

Only three tracks are even so much as decent on this whole record.

JV is dead to me.

Vanderslice also just released a new 12" EP with The Mountain Goats titled "Moon Colony Bloodbath." It's limited to 1000 pieces.
