M. Ward does something to me with his voice. I can't explain it.

I'll stick without M. Ward, as it seems pretty sissy for him...

Only one(s) so far that have blown me away, to both our surprises, is,,,

Julie Dorion - I Can't Wonder...

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Hey Blitz!...

Why all the love for M. Ward?

This is mystifying to me. I've tried multiple times with this guy over a few of his albums and don't get the attraction.

I like him but this new album is pretty much more of the same and I've got enough of his albums.

I know he's kind of got a samey-sound to all of his albums, but I just find the quality of songs (both lyrically and musically) on this album to be the best he's ever done. I totally get why not everyone likes him, but I can't get enough - especially this new album.

It's dull as ditch water

I don't think there's anything remotely dull about "Stars of Leo," "To Save Me" or "Epistemology."

armchair apocrypha made my 2007 shmoo poll. i didn't really like the new one at first, maybe it was because of the crappy rip, but after buying it and listening a few times it's definitely become one of my favs.

i used to like julie doiron, but something about her near-catatonic delivery started getting on my nerves. like she took too much Halcion, or had oral surgery, or both before heading to the studio

She's been pretty pop-oriented since having her kid and, despite the semi-lackadasical quality her voice has always had, she's been a lot more upbeat.

Subject to change pretty soon, probably:

1. Abe Vigoda - Reviver EP
2. Times New Viking - Stay Awake EP
3. Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion
4. Mi Ami - Watersports
5. Lotus Plaza - The Floodlight Collective
6. Antony and the Johnsons - The Crying Light
7. Various Artists - Dark Was the Night

Still need more listens, but it'll probably end up at the bottom:
