I'm just gonna pick it up in store. Neil needs the last drops of my gov't grant.

My initial impression of Fork In the Road is mixed, as usual. There are a couple of tracks in the first half that are just fucking terrible ('Cough Up the Bucks', 'Fuel Line'), and then the second half peppered with some great songs ('Hit the Road') and some brilliant ('Light a Candle'). I suspect one could argue that this might be a quintessential late era Neil Young album, as it's got great and terrible songs linked up with some loose concept, something he's been doing for most of this decade. And frankly I admire him for it, when most of his contemporaries have hung it up on recording and just tour behind the oldies, not only is he still plugging away he's decided to focus of concept albums. It's fucking bizarre, but it's Neil Young.

that's sort of how i feel DJ. The album lyrically is pretty ridiculous most of the time. And it's just sloppy as fuck too, but both of those things are sort of the charm as well. It seems like an album that was slapped together, for the sake of having fun (by being pissed) and it feels that way. Ignoring some of the ridiculous lines and messages the songs convey (which I don't necessarily disagree with-they are just cheesy), the album rocks pretty good.
