I'm very disappointed to learn that there's a band named Lez Zeppelin, and they aren't actually lesbians. What's the world coming to?

Dallas Cowboys linemen band writing album

Quote:
The lead singer is 6-8 with a shaved head and tattoos. The bass player is 6-6 and weighs 353 pounds. The drummer's head is shaved, too, and he also weighs more than 300 pounds. "We have the heaviest band in the world - literally," said Justin Chapman, the lead guitarist. "You try to make the music fit your image, and to me, I see big guys on stage, big, scary guys, and I want to hear heavy, scary music." Meet Free Reign. Cowboys right tackle Marc Colombo is the lead singer and guitarist. Right guard Leonard Davis plays bass. Backup guard Cory Procter is on drums. Chapman, who played on the offensive line next to Davis at Wortham High School, is the newcomer. This form of Free Reign, with a sound it calls "heavier than metal" on its MySpace page, will make its debut tonight at the Granada Theater with a six-song set. Colombo and Procter are the original members of Free Reign. Last year, they set up inside the team's locker room for a mini-set that prompted Davis to learn the bass his wife bought him a few years ago. Chapman came in after hearing them play over the winter. They practice at Colombo's house on Saturdays and meet individually during the week to work out the kinks, but they have another job that takes precedent now that the off-season conditioning program started Monday. "We made a pact when we started the band that football is first, and we'll see what we can do," Colombo said. "We get together on the weekends, and you learn to work really fast musically because football is so time-consuming. We're keeping our goals general right now. We want to write an album before training camp." -- Dallas Morning News

Saw a stat this morning that unemployment in my home town (not Flint but in the same general region) is almost at 21%.

Isn't that about when Thunderdome law starts to take hold?

I think I'm living in opposite worlds of everyone in this thread as I accidentally over-slept by an hour and a half this morning due to a faulty alarm clock. Which is odd, because the old internal alarm is normally spot on.

Ok, what is it about being on vacation that people do not understand? That means, I am not answering any work-related phone calls. If it's extremely important, I'll handle it, but...to ask me about whether you should give a client access to something when you already know the answer is 'no'??!

Go away.

I have decided I shall become curmudgeonly this weekend.

one of my clients' bosses is supposedly on vacation, but they keep receiving feedback on a project. in fact, just the other day we had to fax some documents to paris for the boss to peruse. this is all at their request. my client would rather not be involved with the transatlantic communication that is slowing this down.

i guess some people just expect that.

If I were the head of a company, my opinion would be different.

My complaint is that I've not taken a vacation in 18 months. My assistant is about to go on FMLA for six weeks. I've had to push MY vacation plans to the summer, which is the time of year that I really hate to be on vacation. So, I figure a little decompressing via an extended weekend might do the trick. It's my first day and I'm already getting pissing -- this is not my idea of decompression.

About ten years ago i was working 80+ hour weeks and went through a stretch where I hadn't taken a day off including weekends in over six months. My boss was worried about me burning out and ordered me not to come in the next day but ended calling me at home because the CEO had a question that no one else could answer.

I was to meet up with a close friend who is going through a terrible break up with his wife. After being married 10 years, wife decided that rekindling a relationship with an ex-boyfriend (found a month or so ago via Facebook) is more important. He decided not to meet up and went home instead. I feel helpless - how does one comfort someone going through this kinda pain?

I suppose I should mention that within a day of serving divorce papers, wife flew to Oregon to meet ex of 14 years ago. It's been that long since she's seen him.

Same crazy shit going on with friends these days.

KonstantinL's 14 Stage Guide To Overcoming a Relationship Break Up

Stage 1: THE TRAITOROUS STAB IN THE HEART
what you will think - "oh God! she's left me! I can't believe this is happening!"

Stage 2: THE DELUSION THAT RECONCILIATION IS POSSIBLE
what you will think - "ok, chill, it's going to be cool, she's going through some kind of crisis and she'll see sense and come back"

Stage 3: REALISATION THAT RECONCILIATION ISN'T POSSIBLE
what you will think - "shit, she's not coming back, why isn't she coming back! She's not going to come back!"

Stage 4: DEPRESSION, SELF LOATHING AND SUICIDAL THOUGHTS
what you will think - "I hate my life and I want to kill my self"

Stage 5: REJECTION OF SUICIDE IN FAVOUR OF SELF PITY
what you will think - "OK, I'm not going to kill myself but I am just going to lie in the dark forever"

Stage 6: SELF INTERROGATION (PART ONE)
what you will think - "Why didn't I see this coming? Was there anything I did wrong?"

Stage 7: SEEING THROUGH THE MIRAGE OF LOVE
what you will think - "Wait, there was that incident last Christmas and then she's been cruel to a lot of people down the years, when we had to get the cat put down she wasn't upset at all and the last two weeks she seemed a little distant....hold on...all the signs were there, I just didn't interpret them...."

Stage 8: THE TURNING POINT
what you will think - "What a bitch, did she ever love me?"

Stage 9: REBUILDING SELF ESTEEM
what you will think - "I'm a good person, for her to treat me this way she must be a complete scumbag"

Stage 10: POTENTIAL MOMENT OF WEAKNESS
what you will think - "She is a complete scumbag and I still love her"

Stage 11: SELF INTERROGATION (PART TWO)
what you will think - "How can you love a scumbag, you idiot, get a grip of yourself"

Stage 12: LOVE WITHERS AND DIES
what you will think - "She is a complete scumbag and I hate her"

Stage 13: UNLEASHING THE BITTERNESS
what you will think - "I'm so glad I called her a dumb blond cumhole, with the personality of a viper and the emotional authenticity of a fucking rock, right to her face, in front of her work colleagues. Yeah, now I've humiliated her."

Stage 14: CONGRATULATIONS, YOU ARE NOW HEALED. NOW GO OUT AND FIND SOMEONE EQUALLY UNSUITABLE TO FALL IN LOVE WITH AS YOU DESPERATELY GRASP FOR SEXUAL AND EMOTIONAL FULFILLMENT.
