Springsteen was here in Austin last night. I went for fun and had a blast. Our music critic went and reviewed it and is now getting torn to shreds by "BROOOOOCE!" fans in the comments section for not basically writing; "OMG! Best show EVAR!"

None of us here really give two craps about the fanboys, but give it a gander and let loose with any thoughts.

the comments are pretty funny because it's not even a negative review.

The overall tone is implicitly negative.

Sounds like:

1 - he holds bruce to a higher standard

2 - he holds himself to a higher/different standard (separates himself from both the "nerds" and the "we only know the hits" crowd. points out that he understands song/lyrical content that the audience missed).

re: the fanboys - i'll start a new thread.

While I might not have been as sharp with my pen (so to speak) I can totally see all the points he made. I dunno. You see hundreds of shows, it gets to be that you're looking behind the curtain a lot of the time and in so doing you can miss out on some of the fun and spectacle that's being projected.

Bruce is cool.
Jungleland is not stew.

Yeah, only that last paragraph is negative...but it is a doozy. Jungleland is a "colossally pretentious and baffling stew of prog-rock rambling" REALLY?

Bruce played for nearly 3 hours and you only posted 7 photos? Very lame.

hilarious. complaining about the # of photos posted when half the times i see a review, there's 1, maybe 2 at best.

2. errin worked the load-in/out for this show, and as a result a) she got a smile from the boss and b) i got a pair of max's sticks that were left on stage.

My friend and I had shitty seats, but this was a pretty good show. My only issue was the acoustics...I could barely discern a snare drum sound a lot of the time. That might have had something to do with me sitting behind the band in the upper part of the arena, I don't know... Glad I got to see him. I didn't always like him much, but I came around 2 or so years ago.

i had a similar issue for a show i reviewed. thing is, press photographers are only allowed in the pit for the first 3 songs. (i think that's pretty standard.) so they just snap away for 10-15 minutes and hope to have a bunch that're usable. sometimes you get lucky. sometimes you don't.
