I got this in the mail today and thought I'd pass it along here for those who might be interested and qualify for this...

If you purchased in the United States a new uncoated Apple First Generation iPod nano for your own use fill out a claim form at the following web address.

http://www.ipodnanosettlement.com/ or call 1-888-232-3395

The deadline to mail your claim form is June 10, 2009!

The purpose of this website is to inform qualified purchasers of uncoated First Generation iPod nanos of this class action settlement.

The settlement provides for different payment amounts depending on whether the iPod nano purchased in the United States by a qualified purchaser was shipped with or without a slip case, and also depending on the total number of valid claims that are made. To be entitled to a payment under the settlement, qualified purchasers must have experienced scratching of the iPod nano that impaired their use or enjoyment of their iPod nano.

The settlement: IF YOU DID NOT RECEIVE A SLIP CASE from Apple when you purchased your iPod nano, you may be entitled to a CASH PAYMENT OF $25. IF YOU RECEIVED A SLIP CASE from Apple when you purchases your iPod nano, you may be entitled to a CASH PAYMENT OF $15. The cash claimant payments MAY BE INCREASED OR DECREASED DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF CLAIMS SUBMITTED. if you did not receive a slip case with your original purchase, you may recover up to a maximum of $37.50. Otherwise, you may recover up to a maximum of $22.50.

Who is eligible? To be eligible for a payment, you must have experienced scratching of your eligible iPod nano that impaired your use or enjoyment of it. If you have excluded yourself from the settlement you are not eligible for a payment.

They do. They arent worth a damn but they do provide them.

Also, if you bought a Nano (or any ipod for that matter) and werent smart enough to put it in a case, im not sure why you should receive compensation.

<==still has an original, scratch-free, skinny Nano

I've had one of these on my Ipod video for 3 or 4 years now. It spends most of its time out of its case, oftentimes in pockets with change and keys, and still has no scratches. For 25 bucks (less for older models) its the best protection you can buy.

Is this at all fucking necessary?

When will we be successful in convincing all lawyers to kill themselves?
