this is an annual festival that takes place at casa del popolo and la sala rossa, two of the best rooms in montreal, throughout the entirety of june. come stay for a month. there's no better place than montreal in june.

exact schedule is not up yet, but count on there being two awesome shows every night, often with artists you've never heard of, often with bands you never expected to see in such company in your little hometown. I'm psyched about these.

I guess I missed this post first time around. A ton of great acts there.

Was actually searching for Corsano (after listening to his new one with Mick Flowers and deciding he may be the single most talented person making music today, in terms of pure talent that is) and found this thread. For what it's worth if you've never seen Magik Markers, Tom Carter, or any of Fred Lonberg-Holm's assorted projects I can't recommend them highly enough.

With that I've always wanted to see Tim Hecker. Guys like him, Fennesz, and O'Rourke fascinate me as they create music generally linked to analog snobbery, yet they have 100% embraced the things that software and MIDI can provide an ambient/drone/noise artist. So, yeah, would love to see how that works in a live environment. (Not to mention An Imaginary Country has been my most listened to release of this year)

Tim Hecker has underwhelmed me live, significantly, so much so that I have a hard time going back to his records. He's a semi-decent tennis player though, for an ambient electronic musician.

This happens more than I'd like to admit with artists like Mr. Hecker. There is a certain mystery when its on record. Plus, so much of their music is atmospheric, which (depending on crowd/venue) can make standing watching this music utterly horrifying.

they're sister venues across the street from each other that are associated with a spanish social club. la sala rossa is a spanish tapas restaurant and old spanish person haunt downstairs, and the best venue of its size in the city upstairs. you can go upstairs to see hear some heavy shit, or stay downstairs to eat fried goat cheese balls with honey and caramelized onions while playing crazy eights.
