Just a head's up that Jay Leavitt, former manager @ Plan 9 (and pretty well-known childhood friend of/music educator for Patterson Hood) has actually left the store to open his own vinyl-only shop. It's called Deep Groove and just opened this week.

I used to work with Jay back in the day, and he's an overall very good dude. His knowledge of music is 2nd to none, and he genuinely enjoys what he does. Looks like most of the current inventory is from his own personal collection. If you're into vinyl, give his shop a visit...

good for him. I'd heard that Plan 9 had him on the road all the time shuffling between stores and that was not at all for him. I'll swing by there soon.

Jay is really, really a cool guy. The only problem is that his taste in current music is really bad...

He got us on the DBT bus back when I was in high school. One of the nicest record store guys you'll ever meet anywhere.

jay is amazing. i'm really excited for him.. a fair share of my friends have visited his shop in the past week and said it's great.

it's crazy that two new record stores have popped up in the past year, now. it's really awesome. richmond is starting to get a little more interesting.
