Parks And Recreation
From the people behind The Office US. Starring Amy Poehler and recurring cast members from The Office and Scrubs. The first episode wasn't hilarious but it definitely has potential.

Better Off Ted
From the people behind Andy Richter Controls The Universe. Starring cast members from Arrested Development and Joey. I only made it through about half of the first episode.

Sit Down, Shut Up
From the people behind Arrested Development. Starring cast members from Arrested Development and Saturday Night Live. The animation is some weird cross between Doug and Beavis And Butt-head only not as good as either of them. Coupled with live action backgrounds, I found it physically painful to watch. The fact that so many really funny people are involved and this was so very much not was disappointing. I gave up after about 10-15 minutes of the first episode.

The Goode Family
From Mike Judge, creator of Beavis And Butt-head and King Of The Hill. Starring Judge, Linda Cardellini, Brian Doyle Murray, and all-around solid cast of voice actors. Doesn't debut until May 27 but I'll be very surprised if it's not great as Judge has a nearly-flawless track record. The cancellation of King Of The Hill while shit like The Simpsons and Family Guy continue to prosper would have baffled me if I wasn't such a cynic already.

You should've stuck around. It gets funnier and funnier as the series progresses.

Creator Victor Fresco as one twisted mind.

Agreed. I couldn't concentrate the first couple or so but this week's episode had me laughing my ass off. Pretty nuts and a decent cast.

Sit Down, Shut Up was a HUGE disappointment for me. Completely unfunny. Completely retarded.

...I might still catch the next episode to see if it gets better?

Yeah I had zero expectations of it, so I found some of it funny. I think when you expect it a show to be great you're bound to be disappointed.

It was in no means awesome or cutting edge. But it had its moments. Sure as fuck beats Family Guy if you ask me. That's if someone made me choose between the two.

I hate Family Guy now with such a passion it isn't even funny. That show jumped the shark, beat up the shark and served it in pieces in a restaurant a couple years back. It's now so pathetic and grotesque I yell at the husband to turn the channel(my kid was still up last night and fascinated by cartoons, I didn't want her watching Peter killing a cat to be funny!!).

Peter killing the cat was funny stuff and admitting in the end was even funnier. Probably the only show I consistently laugh at on network tv. Mind you I like 'King of the Hill' and 'American Dad' too, so there's that. Now that I think about it, Seth McFarland really likes killing animals on his show. The road kill rabbit was fucking hilarious on the latter show.

That other cartoon was fucking terrible. Good god. 'Better Off Ted' has its moments, I've seen worse.

I saw the "Parks and Recreation" one...it was eh.

Which network are the other shows on? I've never heard of them.

I don't think there's anywhere else to go with the whole meta-narrative gag. That Hurwitz show was all over that shit.

Seems like sitcoms have to appear like they're subverting the genre's formula (unless it's Two and Half Dads or some shit like that), but they never really break loose of the constraints of a three act thing. It's pretty tedious.

And that Parks show was really just recycling Office cringe-humor and awkward reaction gags. It's got some good people on it, but Pohler can't carry that show.

Yeah, that's actually the only one I've even heard of. The only reason I know about it is because FemDerris watches The Biggest Loser and The Office so it's been promoted ad nauseaum during those. Haven't seen it though.

Femfish loves her some Biggest Loser. Dammit if those weigh-ins don't drag me in though.

In our house 'ol Ron from this season has been anointed "Flabalanche".

Worst body I've ever seen.

Ha ha. Ron's lost a whole person and still looks obese. He could sign up for next season - The Biggest Loser, "Second Tour of a Duty".

God help me I love this show. Hate the obscene levels of product placement though... always annoys the piss out of me. I've been calling Ron "Lobster Man" because his chest looks like the underside of their abdomens, row after row, minus the little flippers and eggs.

This really doesn't do it justice but it's the best I could find in a jpg. He apparently had a gastric bypass that didn't take.

damn, check it out.

I've never actually seen the show, but Kyle's description made me think of Zoidberg.

The only new sitcom I've been enjoying is Big Bang Theory.

Yet, it's in its second year!

We watched season 1 on netflix late fall and kicked ourselves over not catching this last year. It's fucking hilarious. Smart, funny and incredible cast.

No wonder it keeps going up in the ratings this year. More and more people keep discovering it and how smart it actually is. And the guy who plays Sheldon?? Holy crap he is just excellent to watch.
