I picked up their album Must've Been High today, thanks to recommendations from other threads I've started. I went with that because it was their "alt-country" album, which I've been into a lot lately. I liked it after one listen, but I expected more rocking.

I know the rest of their albums aren't country-ish, according to allmusic. Where should I go next?

You can't go wrong with this:

How the Supersuckers Became the Greatest Rock N Roll Band In The World

It's a 2 disc comp that highlights their first few albums on the 1st disc and gives you B-sides, toss offs, and covers in the 2nd disc and it rules. These dudes were never as heavy handed at their Seattle counterparts. These guys were a boozed out, drugged out party band and celebrated it. There are some totally forgettable experiments/jokes and some flat out great tunes but it's never uninteresting. I think this disc sums them up pretty well.

Great fucking band.

Were? They're still going strong, aren't they? One of these days I need to catch them live. I swear they always play weird venues on weekends that I already have plans.

I like Eddie Spaghetti's solo album a lot more than Must've Been High. I have no idea whether the links on that blog are active or not. I was just searching for a photo of the album and bam found links too. In any case, that's where I'd go next especially given that you were looking for country.

Kit and I saw them here in November and they were flat out awesome. I had to leave about halfway through their set but what I did see was SKRONG.

Next time they're around I'll definitely be back.

I was speaking in terms of when they were on Sub-Pop.

But yeah, they're still out there, somewhere.

Yeah, great live band. But, I've always been so so about their records. I'd suggest getting whichever one has She Used To Be Pretty Now She's Pretty Fucked Up on it.

Hoo boy...I could write & write on this topic ( been a fan since '94 ) , but I'm exhausted.

One thought - you might wanna look into joining their fan club. $20 gets you on the list for their shows, & you get an annual club-only release ( usually a CD or DVD ).

The reason I bring up the club is that this year the freebie was a 2-CD recording of their 20th anniversary show. With it, you get a nice chronological view of their career in a live setting. And it sounds great, IMO.

Far as I know it's still available without joining the club, as well ( limited quantities ) . Check out www.supersuckers.com .

They're having a nice sale on the website, too. I wish they had some of their older albums available...I need to fill out the collection.

Great band. There are a few moments where they walk too close to the pop-punk line, but everything else is great. Awesome live. I hope they have a few years left in them.

Do you mean you get in free? Or just guaranteed a spot?

Saw them for the first time last August in a dusty stockyard in Ft. Worth. It was fitting. They ruled. I don't see any reason to buy an album by them, but I'd like to see them live once more.

Free. You just have to email their "manager" Chris early enough. I've seen 'em 2-3 times for free. Been in the club since it started.

I should also add...a LOT of people think their strongest studio record is "The Evil Powers Of Rock 'n' Roll".

But if you wanna just go greatest hits ( non-live ) , I 2nd the "Greatest Band..." recommendation above.

They played a Twins game last year. I regret not going.
