No, not the continent, the BAND Europe, specifically the song "The Final Countdown". This song was AWESOME when I was in 5th grade, and then less and less so as make-up metal went the way of the buffalo. But then years later I began hearing it again at sporting events (y'know, near the end of the game!) and it seems to be seeping it's way to the "standard 80's metal/rock" level.

is it ok to put this song on a mix...in a kinda-half-joking kinda-not way?

let me know. thanks.

I hate this song with a passion bordering on Asia.

yeah, there's not even any cool irony that comes w/ this song. now please, don't start knocking Boston.

we sat through 3 songs from their debut album at work one time.

the cassette was destroyed right after the 3rd song finished.

there's nothing ironic about them, they just plain suck. really bad.

On "Arrested Development", the eldest brother GOB (Will Arnett) is a magician, and uses this as a theme song...I can't really listen to it without thinking of that anymore...
If your friend enjoys the show, or will smile along with it, I think it'd be a good mix surprise...

Easy there, Bubba....

I'll give you Asia and America, but after that you are on your own in loony bin land....

Faith No More did a kick-ass sorta-cover of The Final Countdown one time when I saw them....

I have great cover of the Final Countdown by Laibach that is great for mixes.

It makes the original seem somewhat cooler than i remember despite the cover being so much better.

I liked the two other singles from that first record, "Cheroke" and "Rock the Night".

"Boston" by Boston might be one of the most underrated/overlooked (by critics) albums ever...

Of course, the keyword in that sentence is might. The Boston debut might be underrated/overlooked in the same way cold breakfast cereal might be a sentient life form.

"Smokin" on that album clocks in at 4:20......Coincidence? I think not.

That's funny.

I can't disrespect America for the youth I was while my older teenage sister drove me around doing errands for the folks listening to "Horse with No Name." Simple days being a kid.

Ain't no better drunkard music than Alabama. I think they give Alabama's greatest hits out standard to freshman at UGA along with Hank Williams Jr. & David Allan Coe.
