i thought i had kept myself fairly out of the loop of that shit until i was driving around with the radio on yesterday and a teaser for FOX59 news came on with "employees doubling their salaries with stimulus money! are your tax dollars being wasted???"

I think it will be interesting to compare the ratings.

A lot of people just don't give a fuck what ANY president has to say in Prime Time (count me among them 99% of the time).

Tim Roth isn't exactly counter programming. Great actor but it's not like he's a general audience draw for conservatives.

Isn't it the regularly scheduled program that happens to fall on this night?

I agree.

I am just thinking of what the Fox reaction would have been had NBC refused to run a GW Bush speech on the same pretenses.

OUTRAGE!!!
LIBERAL BIAS!!!
WE TOLD YOU SO!!!

Also wondering if they will still run a Republican response to the speech that they aren't airing.

the uber conservs are already spinning swine flu as having spread by undocumented immigrants and illegals.

Never let the truth get in the way of your ideology, I guess.

It was brought back by tourists and spring breakers.

And it's not like a wall can stop a virus.

Heh. Olbermann and Maddow were on Sue Collins' ass for that. Sue's claims to be a moderate are bunk outside of abortion and a couple other issues. But she is a conciliator and backroom bargainer. I may not like her much and get tired of her family's influence in my one horse town (her family's lumber yard and home improvement business is just past my house), but she is still preferable to most of the rest of the lot.

Count me among the sickos that always watch these things no matter who is President.

Isn't anyone else embarrassed that this sort of thing constitutes 'news' in America at this point? We'll all follow this story like the Congress St bridge bats at dusk following a swarm of mosquitoes, then tomorrow someone from the Hills will get a boob job and everyone will forget all about how Rupert snubbed the White House.
Please.
We all contribute to this, myself included, simply by participating in the discussion.
Whatever happened to the 'Just Don't Look' train of thought?

Jesus dude, calm down. We're talking about a mildly interesting and somewhat newsworthy topic. No one's standing on top of a building spraying bullets. Yet.

Yeh. "Yet'.
Now where's my Beretta .22 long?

edit: And in so far as it was a response in a thread regarding this subject, it was more of a general remark on the state of the American psyche to be quickly distracted and then re-focused in a short period of time on multiple topics without ever sinking its collective teeth into one for an extended period of time. Think of it as a massive bout of A.D.D.

Its a good thing, because otherwise people might have really taken that whole "world on the brink of financial ruin stay in your homes!" news seriously back in January. As it is, it seems the restaurants are filling back up.

I never understood why it had to be on all 4 networks. The prez should sell the tv rights to the highest bidder to pay off the national debt.

According to my on-screen grid, it's on before "Lost".

Yeah, but the Republican response will probably drone on and on.

I'm always at work during these prime-time news conferences and just catch the highlights at home, but do the Republicans actually get a response? I mean, it's not a State of the Union; it's just a press conference. (Am I missing a joke here?)
