a polished neil young sound, or acoustic guitars, more than one singer, folky melodies, relaxed atmosphere in general.

They've always sort of reminded me of Galaxie 500. Maybe more in spirit than sound.

I've liked most of their past stuff but this disc is really good. It's already up in my top five of the year after one listen.

This is pretty good, I'm reminded of the mellower aspects of MMJ.

saw them live a couple years ago and they were extremely underwhelming. maybe they've improved since then.

i think you have to be in the mood for pretty mellow, low intensity folk. sometimes it totally fits the bill, other times it's not as good. when it fits the mood, though, they are great.

I had this album marked down as "puts me to sleep," but fucksake Pulling On A Line is indeed a great song.

Maybe I need to revisit this.

I'm glad this link still works.

They are playing here Thursday and right now I'm basically looking for an excuse to not go to the show.

The stuff I sampled so far is a bit underwhelming like Rodney said, and I'm a little afraid I'll be mind numbingly bored there.

Yeah, upon listening to it I concur.

They are doing an acoustic in-store performance at a consignment clothing/hipster shoe store before the actual gig on Thursday that I will most certainly check out.
A friend of mine is opening up for them, so I'll inevitably pay to see the Electric performance.

Same here. Saw them open up for Akron/Family and they seemed competent enough, but really haven't had much interest in hearing anything from them ever again.

Perhaps I will revisit though given the love for Pulling on a Line.

I was already a fan before this release, owing a lot to Your Rocky Spine from Oniagra. I think it better represents their organic, high lonesome sound as well, for good or bad. I can be a sucker for bango sometimes...

I heard Pulling on a Line twice tonight, once acoustic with 3/5 of the band and once with the full "electric" band.
I really enjoyed There is a Light from Ongiara live and overall I must say it was entertaining and their musicianship was unbelievably impressive. I can see where some might be underwhelmed by their performance, but what they do on stage, they do quite well.

The Wooden Birds opened up for them. I had no idea that the guy from American Analog Set was their front man and that Matt Pond is playing guitar for them. They were pretty damn good as well.
