These guys played with Run Chico Run before forming their own band, if anyone cares. They have a similar sound to RCR.

hey wait, are you from where I think your from?

BC Interior. Are you right?

Close, I was guessing Victoria, due to the Run Chico Run reference.

I lived in the interior for 21 years though. Penticton to be exact.

Just got to this, and after one listen, it's shit-hot. That means good.

I just keep coming back to this, and it just keeps delivering. I really didn't want P'fork to like it the way they did. Makes me look bad.

I like the racket, but the vocals are a little too "soaring" and emotively canadian for my tastes.

We'll see how it grows.

Has passed Iran as my current #1 for the year. We'll see if that holds up.

It's really good.

I can see how someone would be bothered by the vocals, but I think the album has an overall "soaring" effect that they work well with.

Like other people have said, though, we'll see how it holds up.

Only heard it once, last week, and was really enamored of it. Just downloaded and will give it a lot more attention. This has definite sneeker potential.

Arent' they from Vancouver? That's got to get them something from you.

I don't love it, and I'm not sure if it would crack a top 20 list. But it is more enjoyable than I expected.

WHY DON'T YOU LIKE ANYTHING ELSE BESIDES REG ROCK???

Honestly, what about this puts you off. It has all the hooks. Though some have questioned the vocal delivery, I think it fits perfectly. This is by no means some "Animal Collective".

Yeah, wow. I mean, I can get if this isn't your thing but there's really nothing here that would seem likely to provoke much derision.
Harmless at worst.

It's just that these are the moments when I realize I don't speak the same language as some of you. To me, this music sounds like the worst kind of amateurism. The guitar playing is bad, the drumming is so-so, the singing is dude-in-the-shower level, and it's all at the service of a group of generic songs that go nowhere. There's nothing in this for me that is remotely interesting or entertaining. If you pick out any two random college-age males and hand them a guitar and a drum set and tell them to come up with ten songs in the next afternoon THIS is what it'd sound like.

I really don't know what you guys hear. Seriously. It's a mystery to me. I can explain a lot of Obner faves by looking back at influences, but I'm not sure what the precedent is in this kind of case that allows anyone to hear anything other than untalented musicians with nothing to say.

This is all just flat out wrong. It's not even a matter of subjectivity. You can hate this band, but none of the above-quoted crap is remotely true.

Yeah, I started thinking "maybe it's just me" and played it to another music obsessive friend. His reaction was the same as mine - total shock that people would bother with it.

The irony, of course, is that more often than not, you're the one who tries to steer these things into personal territory by peppering your responses with little jabs and insults.

I was just contesting your assertions that the band can't play and is generic, which go somewhat beyond the realm of opinion.
