Yeah, I looked.

Despite the poor reviews I went out and saw this last night and it was all kinds of awesome. I don't understand why/how this was almost universally panned by critics.

Years ago I read most of the comix including:

[img][328:500]http://i3.iofferphoto.com/img/item/302/320/26/o_wolverine1.jpg[/img]

and

but because the history of his origins/mysterious past was spread out over a long period of time I never got the whole story. The movie did an excellent job of clarifying just about everything in one fell swoop. Highly recommended if you're even slightly curious about this. I like how the movie sets up the next feature for character Deadpool which I hear they are shooting now and should be good also.

Oh, and there's actress Lynn Collins in this too as Silverfox.

probably the hottest actress I've seen in awhile. Obner.

My son's best friend somehow got his hands on a bootleg DVD in advance of the movie. They saw it a couple of weeks ago, and raved.

For what the opinion of a couple of 9-year-olds is worth.
:D

I posted about it in the movie thread, and really I don't know if it merits its own thread.

What's there to say about it? It was decent, certainly better than X-Men 3. It was cool seeing more comic characters that I grew up with come to life on the screen, and seeing the whole Weapon X story not be butchered too badly. And Hugh Jackman totally owns this character now.

I'm totally baffled as to how there's supposedly going to be a Deadpool spinoff movie from this.

I'm with Drink.... I'm not big into the comic though, so I don't have a huge frame of reference. I was entertained enough, and the storyline was ok, but there was some pretty laughable moments including some terrible cgi.

My wife, who usually thinks 9 out of every 10 "hot" actors are pathetic, approves of Jackman's semi-nude scenes.

I heard awful, awful things about this from folks I trust. I will wait for the DVD/Blu-ray.

I don't know why anyone over the age of 10 would go see this.

I saw it last Friday and I agree it was definitely better than X-Men 3. I'm not sure why critics panned it so much either. It was a fun action movie and they did a good job with what it was supposed to be. I thought this movie and the first two X-Men movies work better as a trilogy than X-Men 1,2, and 3.

Apparently there are two different prints of the movie with two different scenes after the credits. One scene sets up a Deadpool movie and one scene sets up another Wolverine movie. The print I saw had the Deadpool scene at the end.

It's better than X3 (which isn't saying much), way worse than X2 and X1.

The problem with this film is that they threw a bunch of elements from the comic book into the mix just to fill out a story, and by the end of the film I just didn't care enough about any of it. Adding Gambit in felt tacked on, the love story was a bit much and forced, and I didn't get enough character development from anyone to really give a shit. It was a decent enough moviegoing experience, but I'd never watch it again and there was no real depth. And yes, I realize it's a summer blockbuster but I at least want to care about the characters and get sucked in a little bit.

I was disappointed because I felt like they could have done much more with such a cool story.
