The dying board cannot support more NP threads. Let's just have one a month.

Tuesday, 5-12:

Ornette Coleman - Something Else!!!!
John Coltrane - Crescent
Charlie Parker - Yardbird Suite
Luis Russell - The Luis Russell Story
Mose Allison - s/t (Back Country Suite/Local Color)
Robyn Hitchcock - I Often Dream of Trains

It's just the semi-annual 'board is dying' discussion that's been going on since October '05.

Yeah, I'm not clear. I though the Random/NMR thread was the death knell. If anything, the NP threads are occasionally full of music discussions/suggestions and links.

I've likened Obners to siblings on a long car ride for quite some time now.

But in the end... we're still family

NP threads are great. I just don't know if there should a new one every day.

I say no sticky. Just let it float around. I'm sure we can keep it on the first page most of the time.

Why? Is the board really getting that cluttered with NP threads. The only reason I care is that it seems that whenever I search for a band or an album on obner, the only thing that comes up is a NP thread. When that happens, I'd rather not have to sort through 30 days of NP posts trying to figure out who to ask about them or who here likes them.

I think the board is really dead this time.

We are all becoming too important and prolific to spend the required amount of quality time here.

Your search query can take you directly to the post in question.

It's not about clutter so much as having a continuous thread which I think would be better for discussions. They won't just get dropped and forgotten about in a day or two.

I guess I don't care much really. You are right that a search query can show an excerpt of the post which i guess is good enough for my purposes. If you click on the post hoping to find a discussion of the album though it doesn't take you to the post but to the start of the thread. Since only Nobody really adds more than a picture and the artist album name, it probably doesn't matter but just saying...

I think it would be great if having a month long thread would lead to discussions of what people are listening to. I'm skeptical on that though. The daily threads don't really do that.
