Along with every Pittsburgh transplant in SF I watched the Pens v Caps game at Giordano Brothers in North Beach yesterday.

Too bad the pastrami is actually peppered beef. Still an awesome sandwich and they make fries exactly how I want them. Plus, after a few Sierras everything tastes better. What an awesome way to F up your carb count.

Bruins better bring it tonite. I understand getting out scored by Carolina because of the lack of depth on the blueline. I don't understand how the Bruins forwards have totally dissapeared.

I am watching the World Championships right now.... how the F' did the IIHF let Radulov play in this tourney?

one more lose by the canucks and I'll be on youtube sputtering and blubbering, crying and pouting, vomiting and sobbing, huffing and sweating, punching and kicking, and just general spazzing.

So long, farewell, Nucks.

Let's hope the Caps don't have the same experience wednesday night.

Both games tonight were insane. The Nucks Hawks game was much more exciting though.

We can only pray the third round is this entertaining.

I am a firm believer in the theory that the under dog wins or losses a series in game 6. You can't lose at home and then expect to win on the road vs that amped up crowd in game 7. So I'd pick the Caps tomorrow.

Props to the B'Hawks. It's one thing to have great young talent, but a totally different ball game if they perform in the post season. The league is littered with vets who now have solid playoff resumes that didn't have great starts in the post season. The Hawks are officially scary. I can't believe a team with this young of a forward nucleus is 4 wins from the Cup Finals. Which I am going to guess would be the youngest in 13 years

I am scared for the Bruins tonite. The series has been totally different in Carolina than it has in Boston and no Ward hurts the blueline depth even more.

Hopefully I am in a good enough mood for the nite cap. I really want to watch that game, but if the Bruins lose the TV might get thrown out the window.

It's amazing what young legs can do when the experienced, playoff-tested goalie playing behind them is peaking at the exact right time.

I predicted the Hawks to go deep this year, for this exact reason. Hopefully it will continue a little bit more -- like 8 wins more.

I did say "hopefully."

what a fucking shitfest of a game 7 from the Capitals. At least i still have my Hawks I can root for. Here's to a Hawks, Bruins Stanley Cup finals.

I feel embarrassed to be a Capitals fan tonight.

here's how it plays out.

Blackhawks VS Red Wings > Blackhawks
Hurricanes VS Penguins > Hurricanes

Blackhawks VS Hurricanes >>>>> Blackhawks win the cup

the only reason I pick the blackhawks to take the cup is because they knocked out the Canucks.

If the canucks were knocked out by the eventual cup winner (yet again), I feel better.

IMO the Blackhawks will be lucky to win a game against the Wings. They barely beat a Canucks team that looked like the useless pack of knobs they were back in February. Detroit in 4.

The more interesting match-up is the Pens/Canes series, mainly because it should be similar to the West final - but it won't. Ward is much steadier in goal - and more used to clutch games - than the valiant Varlamov. Plus the Canes are built on a solid system, unlike the barely organized Caps. It should all add up to giving the Pens a serious challenge, even though nobody would have predicted it at the end of the regular season. Still... Pens in 7.

The league gets what it wants - a Detroit/Pittsburgh final.

The name's Chad, actually, (not "the league") but yes this suits me just fine. Gotta go dig out the Yzerman jersey.

If it does end up a PITT/DET final, I will feel like I wasted far too much time watching the regular season this year.

Wings Pens finals would be great. Two teams with incredible upfront talent, great offensive push from the blueline and adequate goaltending. It could be a very entertaining series. Not to mention the whole Hossa storyline. I just hope this round isn't as lopsided as it's looked so far.

B Hawks have nothing to be ashamed of if they lose to the Wings. Not only are they incredibly young upfront, but beyond Bolland and Versteeg none of those kids are even in contract years. Of course vets Pahlsson and Havlat are UFA's. Who is going to be more dead weight this Summer, Giguere in Anaheim and his $6 million no trade clause contract or Huet's $4.5 million (if the Hawks re-up Khabi).

Speaking of cap issues. F*** the Bruins. They were suppossed to win it all so making painful moves this Summer to resign Kessel, Krejci and Hunwick weren't in vain. How are they going to do this with the way second contracts have gone up? Just about every penny they shed with Manny going away is already penciled in on Thomas. They really needed $$$ to tie these guys up long term and take away UFA years. Anyone want Chuck Kobasew?

The only waste was the 3rd round. Thank the hockey gods that snooze fest is over

The Wing Hawks series gave us two things.

Image

and the shocking story that Brian Campbell somehow is still suffering from a concussion that he got from hitting RJ Umberger 3 years ago. How else do you explain a guy who threw that hit calling Kronwalls hit dirty and gutless? $7 million a year to be a mistake prone middle of the depth chart defenceman who doesn't kill penalties, now that's dirty and gutless.

And the Pens Canes series also gave us two things. Cam Ward played waaaaay too much down the stretch and ran out of gas. And the greatest backhander ever thanks to Malkin.

Finals will be better. How can they be worse?

Funny side note.... saw this and then this and thought of A -Rod playing hockey.

Actually think the Pens may pull it off this year. However, I am a DET fan for at least their next 4 wins.
