I've got to assume all the 815ers will wind up back together in 2007 at some point but with the love triangle leaving on the sub and the other five split up in different areas, I have no idea what the hell is going to happen.

In the teaser for Wednesday's season finale, "the love triangle" appear to be back on the island.

Ilana doesn't seem to be working for Ben. She seems to want to protect Jacob, not kill him. Does that mean she wasn't working with Ben when she captured Sayid?

I'm not convinced that living Locke isn't the real Locke. He still needed Richard to show him the way to Jacob. If he were really that other guy (Did we get a name?) in Locke's form, he would have known where Jacob lived. Locke's corpse could be a fake.

There's got to be more to the loophole than getting someone else to kill Jacob. If not, it wouldn't have taken him hundreds of years to do it, no?

While I anxiously await Doc Jensen's recap, here are a few of my thoughts:

- So we finally found out where Vincent, Bernard and Rose were all this time. Was their cabin they built in the 70's the same one that travels around the island and where Locke and Hurley saw Jacob in earlier episodes? Also, Bernard looked suspiciously like Tom Hanks in Castaway.

- I always love the scenes where we see events from a different perspective - like Jacob being there when Locke fell from his dad's badass condo.

- Also found out where Hurley got the guitar before Ajira 316, though didn't answer much else like what is actually in the case.

- Finally saw how Nadia was killed

- Man, Ben really has his own set of daddy issues

There's obviously significance to the way Jacob was killed - with a knife, thrown into a fire. Some sort of sacrificial thing going on.

I was wrong about Locke but not by much. I think Jacob's friend just goes around possessing the bodies of people so he can use them to get to Jacob. Sort of a Voldemort thing going on maybe?

Also, is it just me or did Ben look like a complete sissy stabbing Jacob?

-I thought Walt's body was stuffed in the guitar case.

-Does anyone else think it's strange that we now know where the fucking DOG has been for the past year, but not Claire? Isn't that kind of a gaping hole to disappear a character for a year? I'm assuming that this is going to be a major point, but last night I joked that Aaron is going to grow up to be Jacob, and this morning I'm not entirely sure I was wrong.

-So, why was Miles involved with this assault on this construction sight?

-Are we to assume that's Widmore in the fake Locke's body? Or maybe that dude from the first scene (Adams from Deadwood!)?

-Is Desmond gone from the show? I don't think motorboating was enough to get him kicked off set, right? So is he gonna swoop in at the end of the next season?

-I reaaaallly wish I could find out what their original plans were for Eko, and how much different this series would be.

It's definitely Adams from Deadwood. Did we get a name for him?

Yeah, Eko is definitely the character with the strangest coming and going (well, other than the two buried alive anyway). I wonder if they had to abandon ship on his character or something.

he asked to leave the show, if I remember correctly. He wasn't dealing well with the death of his father and may or may not have had some conflicts with other cast members.

Either way, he definitely left before the writers had planned.

haven't posted in awhile, and i'm not going to re-read through the previous 12 pgs, so apologies if this has already been mentioned.

some of my thoughts:

- i believe the four-toed statue is SOBEK. in ancient egypt mythology, he was seen that he had a four-fold nature (ra, shu, geb, osiris aka fire, air, earth, water) and believed to bring together elements that have been separated by evil (i.e.: island inhabitants who follow the same pattern of coming, fighting, destroying and corrupting)

- definitely tying into the theme of "eternal return," - the universe has been recurring and will continue to recur in a self-similar form an infinite number of times (concept originated in ancient egypt). stephen hawking was the physicist who originally proposed the model that the universe could undergo time travel.

- why locke's body was in the box: the KA was the egyptian concept of 'life force' that which distinguishes the difference between a living and a dead person, with death occurring when the ka left the body. this "KA" is the soul that entered "new" locke, in which man #2 (in the black shirt) found this loophole to inhabit locke's entity. man #2=smokey/"ka" so therefore, he is the enemy of jacob (the color contrast of black/white, ying/yang, good/evil, etc)

i need to refresh on egyptian mythology, but this is what i have speculated so far.

It's always pretty long, but Doc Jensen's column is required reading for me after every episode. He touches on several of the questions/thoughts posted:

not quite sure but my instincts telling me that if it's this ka/smokey/whatever, he knows the island better than anyone. i was baffled on how 'locke' knew when to tell alpert to give him the compass and to bring everyone back to the island. like i said, my theory still isn't fully flushed out. i'm still trying to tie it all together, or i'm just overanalyzing.

btw - maybe the statue isn't sobek, but rather ANUBIS. makes more sense - he was the god of the underworld, protected the dead and brought them to afterlife.

So I guess Jacob's Adversary has a penchant for reanimating the dead or at least playing their part. I guess he's been both Christian and Locke?

and claire? i definitely am buying into the idea that the shack was the man in black's prison until the ash circle was broken. makes sense that that was where christian and claire were hanging out way back when.

damn, i wish i had known about doc jensen's rundowns before this second to last installment. . . but thanks for posting the link.

edit: and yeah, i'd be really surprised if that statue wasn't sobek. . . especially when you look at that rag that was in the shack. . .that thing had serious croc teeth

I agree and I'll go once step further in that Jacob's foe can only reanimate those dead but not burried. I think once the dead are burried, they are off limits (and explains the issue that occured earlier in the season with Sawyer negotiating with Alpert about recovering bodies after the picnic bloodbath that almost lead to war between dharma and the hostiles). The reanimated folks are vessels that were never burried that the man in black can take over (Christian, Eko's brother, and now Locke). I took it as a joke about the upcoming "zombie season" from the creators of Lost, but there's a reason that people like Danielle were burried hastily by the Keamy mercenaries who shot her last season.

Does this mean that ole smokey can be two people at once? Both new Locke and Christian were in the same scene together, yet when smokey turned into Alex, Locke was nowhere to be found and magically reappeared once Alex disappeared. I am confused.

Besides Doc Jensen at EW, there's a couple of others you can visit that track Lost that are also quality.

and for something totally off the wall, this obsessive lost soul has been preaching from the beginnning that Lost is nothing more than a Sim type video game with 6 levels of achievement and redemption. I still think he's nuts, but after the opening scene last night, it did give me pause that this is actually a damn game at it's core between Jacob and the man in black.

refresh my memory, but I thought the interaction between Christian and Locke was old Locke putting the wheel back on it's axis that Ben had turned previously to cause the time jumping. Did Christian and Locke meet after Locke was strangled by Ben in LA and brought back as a corpse?

Unless I am mistaken, and its entirely possible I am, Locke brought Ben to the Dharma village (just before Ben saw Alex in the temple) and Christian interacted with both Sun and Lipidis and Locke.

However, now that I think about it. I think Christian told Sun and Lipidis to look out the window and then we saw Locke and then we didn't see Christian again after that. Who knows. Maybe they weren't all in the same room or something...

EDIT: now I am completely confused about what happened in that episode. Maybe it was Ben who came in and told Sun to look out the window. Sigh...It's probably best to just disregard everything I say. haha

I'll have to rewatch that scene, but I think new Locke conviently wasn't around until Christian was done with his speech to Sun and Frank. What I do know for sure is that we saw Christian and Claire in a scene together with old Locke in the cabin and I have absolutely no clue what's going on there.
