NBC-LA is having a Best Live Music Venue contest between Spaceland vs Troubadour. It goes without saying that my home away from home is my beloved Troubadour -- and it's pointless to tell you who gets my vote. I mean, really, isn't it obvious? But, it would be wrong for me to deny the many great acts experienced at Spaceland. Does it lessen my love for the Troub? No, no, no...it just means that I have options.

Currently, the Troubadour is winning -- but, perhaps you should cast your vote and let yourself be heard.

I don't get this whole thing. They trophy is one of those people that dress up like statues or something?

Wouldn't Mann's Chinese automatically be the winner, then? a homeless Pikachu, a Batman in sweatpants, and 37 Jack Sparrows beat out a moonwalker statue every time, no?

I have only been to Spaceland (with you T), so my vote will have to go with them for now.

Troubadour is the nicer venue, but neither really get acts I give a rat's ass about anymore. I abstain!

they narrowed it down to those two and thats it? I like the troubadour better but generally the place is only as good as the band that's performing at it.

Spaceland is the fave among the smokers cuz it has a corner room to do so. My beef with Spaceland is that it's GUARANTEED the set times will always be late.

i've never had any problem finding parking close to Troubadour or Spaceland.

Spaceland Pros:

Close to me
Cheaper drink prices

Spaceland cons:

ventilation sucks when crowded
ridiculously late set times, especially during the week
rarely bands of interest

Troubadour pros:

venue history
nicer inside
better soundsystem

Troubadour Cons:

more expensive drinks
bathroom is tiny and always dirty
only a couple of acts a year that I have any interest in

I'd put the Echoplex, the Echo, Avalon, the El Rey, the Mint, and the Music Box all above either now. I might even put HOB and Key club above them.
