Well Jay I guess you're not going to become an elder statesman now. RIP.

I give it two years before there's a band called Jay's Hip Replacement.

I pretty much agree. Shocking and sad.

Sucks.

I guess that " Fuck Jeff Tweedy in the Eye" collaboration with Jay Farrar isn't going to happen now.

that's the news biz. i'm not going to speak for chad, but i don't think anyone is happy about this bit of news. still, if doing his job well means more opportunity to write for his paper, considering the state of print journalism these days, i don't consider it pathetic. a little callous maybe, but that's the job.

i don't find it pathetic, but a little weird to post about it, even joking.
but I'm probably overly touchy about "celebrity" death.

Don't get Dalen started on the already written obituaries for famous people, some not even on the verge of death.

It's official, the death was due to an overdose of painkillers.

Jay Bennett Foundation Launches, Readies Free Album for July Release

One year ago today, former Wilco member, solo musician and producer Jay Bennett passed away. To commemorate his life and his music, Bennett’s mother, Jan, and brother, Jeff, are launching The Jay Bennett Foundation, which will benefit music and education.

Fans of Bennett’s work can donate to the foundation online and sign up to receive e-mail updates on the organization’s accomplishments and its unveiling of previously-unreleased songs Bennett recorded before his death. The first batch of these songs, an album titled Kicking at the Perfumed Air, will be available for download on July 10. The album, which Bennett was putting the finishing touches on when he died, is free to download, but copies of the physical CD will sell at for a typical CD price.

While you wait for Kicking at the Perfumed Air to be released, you can download “Twice a Year,” a track from the Bennett Foundation’s exclusive compilation.
