We got some really great news about my youngest son today. As you may know, both he and his older brother have been diagnosed on the Autism spectrum. While Randy (the older bro) is more moderate-functioning, and will probably require some form of support/assistance his entire life, Brian (the younger bro) has always been higher functioning and we've held out hope for his future.

Well, officials from his school district (including those involved with his Special Ed program) met with my wife today and told her that he has made such amazing progress during Kindergarten and 1st Grade that he is being promoted to a "regular" 2nd Grade class this Fall!

I know something like 98% of my posts are general nonsense and silliness, but I have my real moments every now and then, and this is definitely one of them. Anyway, I just wanted to share my excitement.

That's great news, Bob. I've had the priviledge of teaching a couple of high functioning autistic kids in the last few years, and they were absolute joys. I'm sure both of your sons are, but I know this makes things even better.

That's definitely great news to hear, Bob! I've been involved in some autism research and I know how frustrating the diagnosis can be, particularly on the high functioning end of the spectrum. Cheers!
