ICP brings everyone down.

Rancid was definitely in the buzz bin circa Let's Go.

I seem to remember seeing the "Salvation" video ad nauseam on Alternative Nation or whatever it was at the time.

Yeah, and the Flaming Lips were on Beverly Hills 90210. It was a strange time.

haha.

I think they played "She Don't Use Jelly". Their performance prompted one of the classic 90210 lines from the immortal Steve Sanders:

"You know, I've never been a big fan of alternative music, but these guys rocked the house!"

Confirmed on the She Don't Use Jelly

Yeah, they played the Peach Pit After Dark.

And Cats, let's skip them both and go back to "College Rock"

I feel like Cotton did that time we started talking about Small Wonder, and his head almost exploded.

BUZZ BIN!

"Salvation" was there, I remember "She Don't Use Jelly" and "Sucked Out".

Also, I love the Bosstones. Suck it.

Just to chime in (since it seems like everyone is :-))

I really like Rancid, especially "...And Out Come the Wolves" (yes, including Ruby Soho) & "Indestructible" & "Rancid" (the second one - released in 2000). I'm a sucker for a Matt Freeman bass line...

I liked Tim Armstrong's solo disc, but not enough to go back and listen to it very often.

I also like Op Ivy & "Let's Face It" by the Bosstones.

But I also really like Opeth & Mastodon ;-)

I still don't understand how this thread blew up so much, but I like it!!!

those fucking awful metal bands

i'm positive you haven't even heard 1 of them, so you cannot draw this conclusion.

NONE of those bands I listed are metal whatsoever (except Electric Wizard if I listed them)! Listen to them before you try and talk shit on them! I just HATE rancid. I liked them in middle school and I can't even believe that..

but like I said, everyone has different tastes...

I don't own a single Rancid record. I know all of their singles, though, and they're all good. Same exact thing could be said by me for Green Day and Blink 182, with the exception of all their singles being good. I saw Rancid at some Lollapalooza and they were really good. Tim rode out on some short contraption of a bike and subsequently slayed. I have not d/l'ed this yet, but plan to if it stays up that long. Only thing in this thread that I can absolutely agree with is that Van Halen I cannot be fucked with.

Ok, I am from outside AtL, where they have all variety of epic fail format stations - classic rock, modern rock, rap, country, etc...

...And out come the wolves came out my freshman year of college and I only ever heard because one of my best friend's roommates was a punk fan.

It was one of the few albums we could all agree on.

Outside of the 4 of us who used to hang out, I did not "meet" another Rancid fan until I joined this board.

They have never been popular, and I cannot fathom how enough people on hear have heard them enough to hate them. (which is the opposite of the metal -- I have heard enough to know I hate it all).

2003's Indestructible charted at #15, and I would hardly call that their best album.
