The central library has a pretty good selection
I'm checking out Elliot Smith-XO, GBV-Earthquake Glue and Kristin Hersh-Sky Motel

It's funny you mention this because I just picked up Prince's Musicology and the Rainbow Children...both equally disappointing.

I haven't been back to the library ever since I ran up some big fines on No Exit and Nausea.

As a side note, the main library in sf did this really cool thing: they took all the old cards from the days when we didn't have them goddamned fancy shmancy computers and plastered them to the walls, as wallpaper.

They took my card off me and they wouldn't give me a new one. I've been effectively blacklisted by my local library.

I think it was I was constantly ordering books of intellectual merit rather than large print Western novels or those awful hardbacks housewives read.

It's all computers and minimalist decore now anyway, I don't want to go back!

I was just saying 10 minutes ago how I should hit the library today, maybe get some DVD's. I need to get an updated card, too. Mine's all low-tech.

Just returned The Sopranos 2nd season DVD, and I have A.C. Newman "The Slow Wonder" with me today.

There are something like 70 NJ libraries all hooked up, so I can go online & search them all for a particular Cd/DVD. If there's something I want at a different library, I can request it & they'll send it to my local branch. Then they'll call me when it arrives. Do most states have something like this? I'm a total geek for my library now.

Mine does this but they send you a little postcard in the mail when it comes in instead of calling you. The only downside is that since Hawaii is such a small state the quality of the selection just isn't that great...

On the other hand, at our public libraries they sell the books and cd's that have been taken out of their circulation for cheap. I also picked up these books for a dollar each:

Anton Chekov - A Collection Of Short Stories
Simon Winchester - Krakatoa - The Day The World Exploded: August 27, 1883
