there needs to be more people talking about this new album so i can decide whether or not i want to buy it on tuesday, i suppose i could listen to that weak rip but my d/ling capabilities is limited these days,

rancid rules. i like how a lot of their work (especially the early stuff) isn't very riff reliant. mostly the songs come out of the gate with tim shlouting and guitars charging and matt freeman ripping it up and down on the bass. the catchiness comes with the anthemic choruses, and the enjoyment comes with losing your shit and pogoing around instead of headbanging or air guitaring or something like that.

if you knock the band for tim's vocals though, that's completely understandable. he does have a drunken slur mixed with a cigarette stain for a voice. when i first heard Let's Go I was kinda turned off by it, but with a little lyric insert reading i was hooked and singing along with everything on their first three albums.

and the fact that the band is adored by teenage punks isn't really the fault of the band.
