Damn J. You got a fresh link?

I'll be picking this up the day it's released. I thought his last 2 records were solid if not a little spotty but for me, he usually hits more than misses.

I found it over at bolachas gratis (sp?) last night.

That cover looks like it was drawn by Tony Millionaire.

yep, link is still good over at bolachas. damn good album too i might add. i've really not been overly enthused with later period elvis, but this one really hits the spot. kinda making me want to head down to telluride.

I haven't heard that particular lee fields album but that seems like a fair assessment of him in general.

Are the songs here as good as the artists covering?

I'm not usually a fan of these tribute albums. There's usually enough songs on them that I don't end up liking to destroy the flow for me. I took a chance on this one though because the artist list is indeed really impressive and its for a good cause -- proceeds go to the late chris gaffney's family and to help pay his medical bills from his lost battle with cancer.

That was a first listen but I thought it was pretty good.

So far today:

Started off slow but then found its stride. I liked it more than his last few. The biggest question for me is whether It would have legs once the newness wheres off. Its good but I'm not sure I'd ever grab it over his 70's and early 80's stuff.

Goin' to an outdoor fish fry in the summertime afternoon and these collections of classic laid back ska by the immortal Skatalites and dubby reggae goodness by producer Rupie Edwards and featuring Gregory Isaacs, Johnny Clarke, Errol Dunkley, he Heptones and more are coming with me. 3CDs each of fantastic stuff. The Skatalites is a refreshing collection of their earliest work and doesn't just retread the same tracks collected everywhere else and the Rupie Edwards stuff is just stunning. Gonna go crank up the bass and fire it up.

i like both of those artists but, while I haven't heard this particular Lee Fields, I've never thought that they sounded anything alike.

I guess I could bother to explain, but instead let's just say I accept the blame for assuming people would understand/care about the context originating from a previous post by e-stone.

Kinda makes me wonder how often that sort of misunderstanding goes on.
