I'm holding off playing it again until I get the deluxe edition.

Blasphemy, I know, but yeah. I was around for the Clash, and I prefer those Rancid songs to anything the Clash put out.

I realized the first time I paid attention to the pixies is when tim armstrong played them on 120 minutes...that was kinda cool.

used to like this band, don't like them anymore

I think this thread has been mentioned in about every other thread whenever Rads disagrees with a certain musical taste. Its kinda like the constant zinger on sitcoms that you wait for. Only by season 2 its pretty boring.

I'm a little disappointed I missed the initial drama.
I don't think I have heard a new Rancid tune in many years. If I have it was at a bar, and I didn't think much of it at the time.
I used to be an Operation Ivy fan as a kid, and Rancid had their moments for me in college.
I'm a little surprised by the love this band got in the thread, but I don't get the hate either.
Carry on with your bad selves.

Matt Freeman is my fave bassist, and I admire the band's sense of democracy, but dear god they've got to stop letting him sing.

I've only listened to the new Rancid once. I like it -- both the main record and the acoustic versions. I doubt it'll grow on me as much as the tim armstrong solo album did but it will get many spins this summer.

This thread has more potential to go mega. In that interest, I think I'll join Rad's indie blasphemy. And Out Came the Wolves is a better album than London Calling.

I had a Rancid album in high school. Sold it a long time ago, I guess. Listened to this new album and am just not a fan.

I finally got around to listening to this and I don't see what all the hate was about. This is just a solid rock record.

Sounds like there was a lot of misdirected baggage people were bringing to the band.

Dudes played here last night and were great but got stuck on a bill playing before Rise Against (YELCH!)

Jesus, I can't believe you had to sit through Billy Talent. Glad Rancid didn't disappoint.

Good read, Chadwick. And condolences on having to see Billy Talent. Maybe a good chemical wash can help erase the damage they inflicted on your eyes.

Coincidentally enough, I just compiled an updated Rancid mix that includes my fave tracks from the new one. Probably nothing that the two sides of The Great Rancid Controversy of '09TM don't already have or already hate, but I'll post it here anyway.

1. Maxwell Murder
2. Roots Radicals
3. Time Bomb
4. Olympia, WA
5. Bloodclot
6. Hooligans
7. Backslide
8. Radio Havana
9. Rwanda
10. Antennas
11. Axiom
12. Red Hot Moon
13. Start Now
14. Fall Back Down
15. Tropical London
16. Things To Come
17. Last One To Die
18. Dominoes Fall
19. Liberty and Freedom
20. Civilian Ways

YOINK!

And, if you don't like Olympia, WA you don't like rock music.

Odd you should bump this. I finally watched the dvd today. It was slightly better than expected, though pretty disposable.
